There are already a couple of brands of counterfeit snowballs on the market but they don't do the seasonal color change w the bright green coconut for St.Patricks and the pastel yellow and orange coconut for Easter. Also I like the brand that has the bleached white coconut and the packaging gives the appearance of seams on a baseball.

Who is going to start making those orange cupcakes? This could be serious.

For all New Yorkers, we have already heard this union go away thing when Stella D'oro did this same exact thing a couple of years ago.

Seems almost inevitable in today's marketplace. I haven't eaten a Twinkie, or anything else by Hostess would be my guess, in about 20 years. That may be part of their problem. Though it looks like one of the unions striking (baker's union) while the company was in a freefall was another reason. Looks pretty stupid/stubborn considering the Teamsters settled and they saw the books, and the company threatened to liquidate.

Hostess may re-appear, but only in the way Blockbuster has "re-appeared".

Exactly. Twinkies are ok but Ding-Dongs rule.

Help nationalize twinkies. Please sign the petition.

"We the undersigned, hereby request Barack Obama to immediately Nationalize the Twinkie industry and prevent our nation from losing her sweet creamy center," a petition on the White House "We the People" website requests.

But neither can beat the legendary Sno-ball with all those bits of faux coconut that lodged in your teeth.

This morning, on air, no prizes for guessing who.

“I can’t believe this, folks. I simply can’t believe it. The Socialist takeover of our nation is now taking away an American icon, Hostess. No longer will we enjoy Twinkies, Ding Dongs, and Wonder Bread with our loved ones, but rather we will be forced to chew on carrots and celery like animals! I truly blame the First Lady and her Socialist push for healthy food. This is all Michelle Obama’s fault, I feel as though a part of me is dying. We can’t let this happen! Not in America! We need our food made of chemicals and pretend sugar filled with preservatives. I don’t like knowing what I’m eating. Carrots?! Apples?! Strawberries?! How boring does this White House want us to be?! We’re not Americans unless we’re eating things that are bad for us. It’s what makes us great! I’m so upset right now I think I need go to a commercial. We’ll be right back.”

And they object when they're called wingnuts.

this thread can be combined w one of the political ones in my opinion. A hedge fund took over the company, and like in Wisconsin made threats to the union and in the end followed through by closing down and putting 18,000 people out of work.
Like you see all time globally the trademarked brand is what has value, vs the employees that make the product. The people controlling the brand will scramble to reestablish a Twinkie baking operation as fast as possible so that the already established distribution and shelf space doesn't go away completely. forever

Ding Dongs rule. Authentic Ding Dongs have been hard to find where I live. I used to have a vacation home and they sold them down there. The copycats are OK, but not as good as real Ding Dongs.

I used to like Snowballs until I saw the movie Clerks.

Never did like Twinkies - just sugar filled cornbread.
