Uh...... if you mean me, I was agreeing with you. Quoting you doesn't mean the gloves are coming off and the jersey's being pulled over your head

That's what I thought when I first read your post. But Joe's reaction, that raises questions.

"Taylor Phinney could move up from Trek-Livestrong in August"

Hmm expect some further improvement from Taylor when he moves to The Shack!

“Mentally I’m in a good place. Form and fitness are interesting things and so much is mental. I’ve very confident in my ability but I wouldn’t say I have the form of my life. I’m too new to the sport to know what true peaking is like.”

So two times world pursuit champ and he doesn't know a peak ?

This is a massive assumption that "The Shack", as a bicycle racing team, will exist in August. Massive assumption.

I'm baffled by the unintended innuendo of the statement, though. Wow.

He could just ask Tom, he knows a good peak.

USA boys believe LA is clean and Vino is dirty.

It will never change until media change.

Vino is dirty and the media here confirms that.

I have to agree with Moose.

I'm actually glad he speaks out against doping. Now, let's see him get more educated on who doped and who didn't and maintain that in his more adult years. Hopefully he'll do that, and not clam up to the omerta like almost everyone else.

Chances are Taylor Phinneys' naive. I think the same as Greg LeMond was naive until he suspected people were doping. I think that was 1992.

I moved to Belgium in 1990 and lived 10 kms. from Greg Lemond (2 kms. from Steve Bauer who I visited a couple times). I had heard lots of stories about doping from Euro. coaches I had in N.A. Nothing I heard really prepared me for what I faced In Belgium, it was everywhere and I was still a junior!
Let's not be naive Greg, Davis and every other N.A. pro ,and amateur for that matter, knew what the score was/is.
It took me about a month before I could communicate well enough in flemish to get the picture. Drugs were everywhere and it was made clear that you weren't getting invited to the big races as an amateur by the team without being willing to do what it takes.
Seriously. it's time to grow up.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of Phinney but for Chrissakes, stop hanging on every word the kid says. He's young and impressionable. Wait, he said something silly? BFD. Every single one of us said and did stupid stuff at that age. Give it a rest already.

Maybe, but you weren't on twitter and you didn't have a public role when you were his age.

Being young is no excuse for being either very naive, or a hypocrite. If he is going to speak out then he needs to start asking tough questions about his boss and team-mates otherwise his words about doping are completely worthless. Like a pop star protesting about the environment while flying around in a private jet.

He gets everything he deserves.
