Benfica employee detained in doping sting, though no word if the club is connected.

Porto just glad it's not them for once I imagine.

The Judiciary Police confirmed the arrest of a Benfica employee, as part of the operation that dismantled a clandestine doping laboratory , suspected of leading a network of import and distribution of anabolic steroids in several gyms.

The Judiciary Police explained in a statement today that it managed to "dismantle a clandestine laboratory for the mass production of anabolic substances, probably the largest to date identified and located", in the metropolitan area of Lisbon.

Executing "11 search warrants, 6 of which were at home and 5 were non-domestic, and two arrest warrants were also served, outside of flagrante delicto", "several laboratory equipment and industrial machines for the production of these substances (oral and injectable)" were seized. as well as "prohibited substances, with a finalized production process and already packaged and labeled, containing cartons, blisters, holograms, leaflets, which enabled the doping products in question to enter the market, with the appearance of certified production and legitimate laboratory production".

Also according to the PJ's statement - which also reveals the "seizure of more than 250 thousand euros in cash and digital assets, namely cryptocurrencies, as well as four luxury vehicles, valued at around 300 thousand euros" -, the Two detainees have already been presented to the judge. One of them was placed in preventive detention and the other was given bi-weekly presentations and banned from contact.

ST. LOUIS -- Milwaukee Brewers right-hander J.C. Mejia was suspended 162 games by Major League Baseball on Wednesday after his second positive for a performance-enhancing drug.

Mejia tested positive for Stanozolol and became the first player suspended under the major league drug agreement since San Diego's Fernando Tatis Jr. was suspended for 80 games on Aug. 12 last year.

Mejía was suspended 80 games on May 17, 2022, after his first positive test for Stanozolol, a synthetic steroid derived from testosterone.
There's no doping in baseball!

Wow, to get caught for the same substance two times, under MLB’s not so stringent doping testing system is pretty impressive!
I think once you get to be old enough the doping (anti-doping) cycle just keeps on repeating itself no matter the professional sport, so you just end up laughing and let the younger generations deal with it.

MLB targeting someone for doping violations is pretty impressive though, what did this dude do to piss the MLB off?

162 games is like, one season though. First offence half a season, second offence a whole season.

Apparently it was traces of dihydrocodeine, which she claims must have come from tainted OTC painkillers. But she did take it earlier this year after elbow surgery...

Argentine World Cup-winning midfielder Papu Gomez has been given a two-year ban by Fifa after testing positive for a banned substance, say his club Monza.

The Serie A side, who Gomez joined in September, said terbutaline was found in a sample taken from when he played for Sevilla in October 2022.
...
Terbutaline is used to prevent bronchospasm in patients with asthma, bronchitis, emphysema and other lung diseases.

Monza said the positive test was the result of "involuntary ingestion", adding they will "evaluate the next procedural steps to take".

Benfica are out of the Champions League after 4 matches and have already lost more games this season than they did all of last season.

For years people could use her description on me" I finished the race in a non competitive way" The woman's resume is decades deep she has great results in multiple different types of races.

American Football:
Indianapolis Colts player Al-Quadin Muhammad has been suspended without pay for the next six games for violating the NFL's Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances, per NFL Media.

Muhammad is the second Colts defensive lineman to be suspended for PEDs this season, as defensive tackle Grover Stewart was handed a six-game sentence in October.

Six games is over in six or seven weeks... so kind of like the 1980's drug suspensions in cycling :)

Alpine Skier Breezy Johnson faces a suspension for whereabouts violations:

Shouldn't she normally be provisionally suspended after the 3rd strike automatically, though? "Out of respect for my fellow racers, I have decided not to compete until the matter is resolved" is what she said about it herself.
