As usual it's all about PR. If Cookson was serious about anti doping he would have gotten rid of Zorzoli a long time ago.

The best move for the UCI now is to "investigate" and then wait until everyone has forgotten about this and bring him back. This would probably result in a pretty big media **** storm, but still better than risking Zorzoli talking about everything he knows?
one would assume his position at UCI has become untenable.
imo zorzoli won't talk when handed a decent goodbye arrangement.
if they let him go, they can always replace him with somebody with similar terms of reference / scope of duties (i,e, to make sure the commercially attractive riders do not test positive, and small dogs occasionally get fried so that uCi is seen to be doing the good thing). Not much will change either way.

The Golden parachute the UCI gives Zorzoli will have to be pretty substantial, as I assume that the Medical council in Belgium will now have to consider his licence to practice & losing that is a career ender for a Doctor !

We then end up with a very disgruntled former UCI employee, who might be persuaded to come clean, & drop some others in the smelly stuff, rather than taking the whole wrap himself !

one has to hazard a guess that Dr Zozo allegedly made some good financial gains due to his extensive knowledge of the workings of UCI anti doping.

And no longer being gainfully employed by the UCI he will probably be in demand by a select few willing to pay a premium for "inside" information.

This is the way riders circumnavigate testing positive these days.

They don't really get caught these days they simply have wrong/outdated advice on the testing procedures hence why the best paid guys like Ferrari provide the best info.

Money for info at the end of the day.

Yes, i agree and no doubt he will continue to develop his long gained network of acquaintances in the various labs to keep the information coming in order to casually pass it onto favoured teams......

Landis at his best:

“In light of all of this, the comments from Greg, Armstrong, Leinders and Zorzoli, it's not surprising that virtually all legitimate sponsors have fled the sport. It is now financed primarily by bored wealthy men who need a reason to give their wives about why they spend so much time with young leg-shaving men in tight pants.”

I doubt Landis wants to see his face hanging around a bunch of druggies and their dealers, (pro peloton) so he is hardly cutting anything off to spite....

No offense here as I often agree with your posts, but I didn't make Floyd's bed and you probably didn't either. He IS a doper. He did hang out with a lot of leg shaving young men. More importantly He lied to a lot of people and took their money for his asinine defence fund. So yeah, he uses the sport and it's fans as far as he could, pulls the whistleblower tactic, and now denigrates even casual hobbyists? The guy needs a few swift kicks in balls. What a piece of garbage.

Yeah, fancy the guy cleaning up cycling and sweeping the bullsh1t when the entire industry was pretending it as all clean. What was that guy thinking?

Are you proposing Landis came forward because he's a nice guy and thought it was wrong? Just looking for clarification in case my sarcasm meter is broken, which is always possible.

Nice guys, in cycling? What does that matter.

He brought more to the table than any other athlete, administrator, lawyer ever did.

Or you still Livin' Strong?

I agree with you. Floyd has done some dumb things and is definitely no saint.

However, I also think he comes across as an intelligent person and his comments on the current state of pro cycling is imo spot on.

Hah no, no yellow has ever been on my wrist. My point is exactly what I wrote, he's a ****bag through and true despite what info he's given up to make his payday. The info led to a lot, but he's still the same. Maybe now with more whiskey included, but still the same.

Also, his comment about who financed cycling... I read that as the general public who buy bicycles, and not pointed at say tinkov. So I may be misreading his intent. If so, apologies.

Back to the subject of Zorzoli's review, do you think anyone will consider the evidence from the Freiburg Clinic about getting TUE's on demand?

From: Appendix N to USADA’s Reasoned Decision
Overview of Evidence in the Freiburg University Clinic Doping Investigation

"...Sinkewitz confirmed Jörg Jaksche’s recollection that the doctors ordered therapeutic use exemptions without medical justification in order to allow the riders to receive performance-enhancing drugs, including cortisone, in particular, for intramuscular use..."

A characteristic of successful sociopaths is the ability to appear intelligent and thoughtful. their intelligence and social graces are what makes them so good at sucking the trust out of you. Floyd is **** ,regardless of what truth he tells it is only what serves him. The payout is the lawsuit. FL is as complicit as anyone he accuses. he has latched upon our desire for revenge such that he has become some anti hero.
i am not getting on his bus

Huh? The UCI has the moral authority to lead cycling... And pass out TUEs to favored athletes.

No one will bother to look at the 90 TUE's the UCI reported from 2014 either.

Zorzoli isn't going down
