Drenthe wants Worlds 2020 and wants to create 'Artificial hill'

Time for the what-the-**** fact of the day.

Drenthe wants to organize a world championship cycling in 2020.
And if you think that will be a flatter than flat worlds, no, not even that!
They are planning on building a cycling circuit on the old TT circuit (no longer in use) of 16.1km and, here comes the what-the-**** bit, they are planning on creating an articial hill which "should challenge any cyclist from all levels".

An artificial hill/mountain...these guys are nuts

Not a difficult task there-civil engineering science nowadays is capable to build those things -just check the artificial islands in Dubai..
the real question here is how beneficial could be this project just to host the Worlds-considering the financial cost of it..

Gotta hand it to them, Drenthe did a good job organizing the Vuelta, crowds were pretty spectacular, and this is just something Relus ter Beek would've loved. I'm curious as to what will happen if they enter the competition without finishing the hill first. Very funny. (And I would love to have more hills in Holland, so this is a good start! :) )

OK, I took a look on Google Earth.

Give 'em a break. They need a "sprinter's year" every now and again!

Copenhagen and Melbourne will be sprinters years though those championships are 9 and 10 years away.
