Groenewegen makes Gaviria and Viviani look like second tier sprinters...

Well he is more powerful than any of them.
Gaviria was also in a break and almost no team in the finale
That's hardly a defense, in the Tour last year he was humiliated literally twice in a row by Groenewegen when the latter had his first chances of really sprinting (boxed in stages before)....everytime groenewegen has free air he just rockets past

Shame there were crashes. Hopefully, no one has suffered some serious harm. It's only the beginning of racing series in Flanders.
Congrats to Groenewegen. Although, at one point, to me looked like Gaviria had the best position and that Viviani was the fastest, but Groenewegen got it all right again.

Any news on Durbridge?

Australian rider Luke Durbridge (Mitchelton-Scott) has been ruled out for the remainder of the spring Classics season after fracturing both his collarbone and finger in a collision with a tree at the Driedaagse Brugge-De Panne on Wednesday.

Groenewegen just keeps impressing with his pure speed and power. He makes it look so easy beating the best sprinters in today's peloton. If he's in a good position he seems to be unbeatable, even if he's not, like yesterday, he can manoeuvre himself into a good position as well. The way he won the second stage of Paris Nice indicates he has more substance than just a one-trick-pony sprinter who is overly-reliant on a lead-out train.
