Cry granddad strikes again. Lefevere is crying because Van Avermaet had too much advantage of the motorbikes in front of him. He accuses the VRT (flemish broadcaster) of favoring Van Avermaet. He also said Terpstra was pulling 450 watt while the gap was growing. Classy reply by the jury: Did you see the power of Van Avermaet at Nokereberg.

Etixx not looking good so far during the cobbled classics. Especially compared to their usual form. Yesterday it was basically Maes on his own at the front during the final until Terpstra and Gaviria came to the front during the final couple kms. That coming after bad outings at Omloop and Kuurne aswell.

The Tony Martin cobbled rider experiment clearly not going well.

If Martin wants to do classics he should focus on hilly classics. Earlier in his career he was an okay climber and managed to win a bunch of stage races by surviving pretty well in hilly or medium mountain stages. He had some pretty strong rides in the Ardennes in the Tour of Belgium for instance. His impressive win in the TDF in the Vosges comes to mind. I mean, he even won Paris-Nice once, Algarve etc. he used to do well in País Vasco he even got 4th in Suisse and he only lost there because the climbers went from quite far in the Saas-Fee stage. If he wants more than just TTing, why not focus on his climbing? Stage hunting, hilly classics, week long stage races, that seems like enough of a challenge. Etixx in the Ardennes with a long range attack from Martin still having Martin and Alaphilippe for the sprint or late attacks could work quite well in my opinion.

Selfless ride from Terpstra. He completely sacrificed himself for the team.

Hang on a minute, isn't this the same Terpstra that so many her claim to be Mr. Selfish, only ever interested in riding for himself?
You know how people are around here. Half of the posts categorizing or characterizing riders are nonsense.

Yes, the same Terpstra who once made fun of a man who had just attempted suicide.

I really doubt Martin as a classics rider, he just isn't one.

Coquard

Started to celebrate and it cost him. Year of the French sprinters?

He didn't start to celebrate before crossing the line.
He was getting ready to post up. Look at 2:26-2:30 of the cyclingnews recap, he had shut it down and was starting to sit up. If he would have raced three more pedal strokes...

Great pic of it:
