He drove Vanmarcke nuts. Seems his only game plan was to sit on his wheel, nobody else's, and out sprint him for whatever spot they were contesting.
Given the fact that Sep looked super strong, it might have been an idea to cooperate in the chase.
Then again, this is Pozatto, I'm talking about.

He realized too late that Sep isn't Boonen, and can't singlehandedly cart him all over the road. Typical Pippo tactic I guess

But is it really frowned upon in the peloton to throw your bidon into someone's spokes? Is it one of those unwritten rules?

I would assume not causing preventable crashes is only an unwritten rule because they don't have any paper.

In any case, I'm in awe of the self control of the majority around here who can be involved in painful crashes and content themselves with knowing the numpty who caused it didn't mean any harm (they just couldn't be bothered to take the tiny amount of care needed to not do it).

I wish they'd write it down, cos I know this was Cav's fault, but I'm not sure why.

Zabel even sent a mocking apology to Cav about it, saying he was sorry and that he told his riders to pay more attention.

At least I think that is what happened. Stupid Cav.

It was still careless

Well Pozatto finished 5 seconds ahead of Vanmarke so its not like he just outsprinted him.

Just read the results as I couldn't wait any longer for a video.
Very mixed feelings...almost feel more dissapointed then satisfied with a dutch win.

Negative:
1. I watch a looooot of cycling, but the few times I can't watch a dutch guy wins or one of my favourite riders.
2. This morning I set my recorder to record Catalunya since it was a nice mountain stage.....stage got cancelled and if I recorded DdV I would've been watching Terpstra now as he accelerates on the Patersberg and I would've been cheering at my tele.

Positive:
1.**** yeh nice win Terpstra! Not a stolen victory just dominated.
The guy has shown his potential for these kind of races a lot of times, but he has had some bad luck(injuries and crashes) and a crappy year. Finally he gets what he has been working for.
2. I read 2 dutch newspapers today with an interview with Terpstra where he was saying he was feeling really good and really wanted to go for the win today. He said the biggest guys are still holding back a bit and beating them will be hard and I'm an important domestique for Boonen in these races so today I know I can win.
3. He did it.

Damn.. now I just want to see dutch guy win live for once... :(

Your fault for recording the crap that is Catalunya instead of this race :D

Don't you have a Digicorder by the way?

Yeh I do, but apparently it's not able to record multiple things at the same time

Yes it's my fault. Any other catalunya stage and I would've decided to record DdV, but today was an epic mountainstage.

While it's 18 degrees and sunny in Belgium and the Netherlands it's snowing in Spain :D

Strange, I though that was a standard thing.

Wouldn't want to be racing in Catalunya today, that's for sure.

So after watching the race i'd say Quick Step is still looking incredibly strong. Chavanel will be able to go on the attack and stay in breakaway groups without doing pulls to let Boonen rest behind. Boonen will just probably try to stay on Cancellara's wheel the whole race. Terpstra is also very strong and could be another card for quick step to play. Although maybe they should use him to chase down the inevitable attacks from other favorites. I'm pumped for the classics!

Terpstra will likely attack before the favourites will and hope that the favourites won't be going all out since Boonen in on their wheel doing nothing.

I'm sure he can't hold back, because he's been hoping for this scenario since he joined Quick Step.

I think he had better joined RSNT for that scenario to unfold. Cancellara is the man everybody will be watching.

Great work by Terpstra. Nice rides by Chavanel, Vanmarcke and Pozzato as the other contenders for RvV.

Anyone have an idea as to whether Haussler was caught up in the bidon incident, or why he finished far back in the field???

Finally watched this one.

The result had been spoiled, so I can't really asess on the quality of racing. OPQS played it as per their wishes. It's going to be an interesting battle for the upcoming days.

I don't have hopes for Pozzato to be a major factor in the big classics, but it seems everything is ok with his recovery. Farnese will be able to justify their wild cards. A lot of interest in what Gatto can do, as he is becoming a favourite of mine.

Sep was top quality once again. Not a lot to do when his team couldn't bring the break back and after that an organized chase didn't really go through.

Pictures

I am sorry but the Gruber Duo pics are not exactly uber pics.
Misframed, monochrome / arty.
Decidedly not Graham Watson or the Italian photographer standard.

and Yes, I could take better.
