Van Aert tries a different approach, but gets the same result: beaten by Van der Poel. His tactics were questionable. He should have kept Jorgenson with him to start a duo time trial after the Kwaremont. Perhaps a few riders from other teams would have taken turns as well.

That was quite revealing:

1. No one really has anything to put up against Van der Poel, who is literally better on every type of ground. Better on the punchy sections, better on the cobbles, better break away and better on the flats. WVA not close and the rest completely obliterated. Potentially only one man that could put up a fight and he will not be riding RVV and P-R

2. You can post power data from training rides but racing is something else. On the note of Lazkano’s amazing numbers pre-race

3. Van der Poel was great at the Road WC in Glasgow and good at the CX WC in Tabor. This was a statement that his trajectory is positive!

4. Will this be enough for a major showdown in Liege?

5. Van der Poel finally got a haircut

It's not the Belgian way.

Nothing from the above is 'revealing' unless you were living on a different planet the last 3-4 years.

You sure they havent mixed him up with someone else?

It was an Astana rider in the Asian champion's jersey, just behind Girmay when they crossed the line.

But I think he was riding on the bike lane when Stuyven bridged to Wout earlier. A bit amateurish to 'stay' in the race like that.

Igor Chzhan top 20?

Surely, he must have abandoned earlier and ridden to the line, now pretending to make a result?

Correction: I mean Gleb Brussenskiy. He is the current Asian champion. Chzhan was from 2022 (and didn't participate today).

Belgian Pozzato really did a special classics preparation, skipped the best opportunity in years of winning another monument by not going to MSR and in the end gets beaten by his daddy with a bigger margin than the "best ever spring form" Slovenian Pozzato is managing to get on a couple of farmers and plumbers over in Catalunya.

I think that's unfair, this is possibly Van der Poel's most dominant ever classics win other than Glasgow. He's always been a bit better than the rest, this was a LOT better than the rest.

I think it's too early to judge. If anything, this prep should pay off for Ronde and Roubaix, not before.

Jezus, the hate on WVA these past few days on the forum is growing. You wonder why. Perhaps everyone is just bitter that they wouldn't even be able to touch the heels of a Caja Rural-rider if they were to haul their fat ass on a race bike...

Surely the Slovenian Pozzato is Mohoric?
