Great demonstration of class by Contador today, i think he will be more than ready for the Vuelta.

Really happy for Ballan, it makes me wonder why the hell Bettini didn't call him for the olympics instead of Modolo.

Contador is a real racer. It would have been cool had he won the Eneco Tour. It was quite bizarre to see Boom dropping him on a climb, but of course cobbles change everything.

What will Froome do him then

Therefore contador had to close a hugh gap, he was in a really bad position last time they did the muur so yeah.

Also nice to see Contador at this level right after coming back from his ban, in a stage that doesn't even suite him very well! Looking forward to the Vuelta

What's with all the Ballan bashing anyway... since last year I find he has refound his old form on cobbles. Ofcourse it's very hard for him to beat Boonen and Cancellara but he's very close to them. The year he won was against Hoste for crying out loud

He often has a similar level to Boonen but he doesn't have a sprint.

Ballan lacks a fast finish and that's the reason he doesn't win very often. He's one of the best cobbled riders out there though.
He is kinda comparable with Boogerd who was among the best in the Ardennes, but there was always someone better or he got outsprinted.

Some teams that failed yesterday. Liquigas and Argos(which nobody understood) showed themselves quite often at the front of the peloton as if they were up to something. Well Liquigas had Oss so I kind of understood their racing, but who had Argos?

Well apparently they had Gescke who finished on an amazing 33th spot @ 34 secs. Same time as Boonen though!

Yep that's a very good comparison.

It's a bit ridiculous for a Boonen fanboy like El Pisti to underrate Ballan, who put Boonen firmly in the hurt box in the Tour of Flanders. Boonen was lucky to just hang on, and then of course with a flat run-in to the finish there wasn't much Ballan could do.
