Wellens what a ride! Now leads the GC with 7" on Boom.

I'm amazed by Tom Dumoulin though. With no teammates for the last 25+ km, chasing down Boom on his own never even bothering to ask for a pull and then able to sprint. What a warrior.

Boom also excellent. Tomorrow cuold be epic.

Very entertaining race action today.
Great ride by Wellens and Boom.
Brave jersey defense by Dumoulin.

Eneco stage 6 >> LBL ('14)

Looking forward to the last stage.

And wow Dumoulin, even after pulling everyone and everything for god knows how long, only Good Guy Greg manages to sneak past him on the finish. Wat a beast.

Wellens did a really strong ride, I think he has a bright future ahead of him. Boom playing it well tactically and climbing much better than last year's stage, or even than last couple of years in general.

However, this might be the second time Dumoulin loses the Eneco Tour because is team is crap.

I was afraid a 3rd rider would get away with it.

Allthough both Boom and specially Dumoulin were very strong their teams didnt really help. I mean at some point Belkin had Tanking and Vanmarcke to pull, but they didnt when Wellens was upfront. I understand they wanted to tire Dumoulin, but now they got nothing again.

He was sick recently so a decent job all things considered

Ya, roughly around 13 K to go you can see Gilbert putting his hand on GVA telling him something. Moments later GVA attacked....at that point it was obvious something was up.

This lad looked like he stumbled on the podium by accident, standing there almost apologetic :D
He still looks so very young, including some baby fat in his face and some pimples. I reckon that's a sign he hasn't matured fully yet and should be able to improve further.

Brilliant race

Makes British Eurosport's decision to only show the highlights of tomorrow's stage even more baffling/annoying.

We get the Arctic tour of Norway Live instead

Some sort of rights issue?

I thought he was getting over it after his ride in London, but maybe I overestimated the competition a bit. :p

I probably underestimated the competition here as well.

Does anybody maybe have some local knowledge about the stage tomorrow? I know the climbs aren't really climbs, but I'm hoping the finishing circuit is designed well. If the roads are narrow, some people might be inclined to attack, considering some of the gaps are small. I also reckon Boom might want to challenge some boni sprints, considering he is only 7 seconds back.

Wow, Wellens absolutely amazing _O_ also a fantastic style on a bike.

Dumoulin was very strong, but as I said, lack of team support could cost him the win, and it looks like it will.

Don't get this comment, Gilbert has had a pretty good year so far while Van Avermaet hasn't been racking up too much top results.

Not really that surprising Van Avermaet is better here. Almost all the guys shining in this race are coming of the Tour de France. At the same time Gilbert didn't do the Tour and on top of that was ill in the buildup, causing him to miss Wallonie, fail in San Sebastian and not to be on top of his game here.

You get my comment more now? :p no seriously, I know Gilbert was ill, but the point is that he came into this race as a leader, while Greg was meant to work for him.

The same thing happened in Ronde van België. Gilbert leader, Greg outperforming him. Hence my comment.

I thought it all worked out well for Dumoulin having raced smartly. In the last 5 km it's basically a TT between him, Boom and Wellens and normally you'd fancy his chances in those circumstances but he was the third strongest on the day

Have you seen all the work Dumoulin did before he got to the last 5 KM? And still only GVA managed to overtake him on Redoute. I think he did a great job considering the absence of his complete team. And Wellens and Boom are also good at TT. So all things considered I think he was the strongest of the 3.
