I was afraid a 3rd rider would get away with it.

Allthough both Boom and specially Dumoulin were very strong their teams didnt really help. I mean at some point Belkin had Tanking and Vanmarcke to pull, but they didnt when Wellens was upfront. I understand they wanted to tire Dumoulin, but now they got nothing again.

Vanmarcke only rides for Vanmarcke BV. He is really annoying this ENECO Tour. Even with Boom being clearly stronger in every test so far Vanmarcke keeps doing his annoying useless attacks and never pulls for Boom. Total ego

Brilliant race

Makes British Eurosport's decision to only show the highlights of tomorrow's stage even more baffling/annoying.

We get the Arctic tour of Norway Live instead

Some sort of rights issue?

Whaaaaaaat?

But you should know by now not to rely on ES at all - As soon as I noticed it I switched to the Dutch channel and watched the last 80k- it was a fantastic race

Perhaps this was the race strategy? Or have VM in front to pace Boom once he gets away, or force the little peloton behind to spend energy so that Boom can attack later in the race? At BMC, they seemed to be using that same tactic. And if it weren't for Wellens, Boom would have gotten the leader's jersey...

Or of course perhaps Belkin said 'screw this Astana guy'.

Probably two defining moments yesterday.

Dillier's pace diluted the peloton big time when it mattered.

And Wellens taken a big risk (Chapeau, Sir):

For me Wellens was the strongest on stage 6.

Yes of course, that's what he should do and why I'm even more a fan of his now than before. To hell with collective spirit. Cycling is an individual sport, period.

Sep has already given too much of himself for others and even for nothing (2011 Paris-Roubaix). Thanks JV!

Vanmarcke got dropped in the final part up redoute when Dillier set the pace but could regain contact on the flat part after the climb. Two climbs later, he got dropped again but could come back because of a good descent and some help from Tankink.

When he regained contact for the second time, he attacked a minute later knowing that he would be dropped again if he doesn't have a head start on the favorite group. So if he didn't attack there, he would be with Boom who didn't need any help at that moment. Also, Tankink was still in that group to help Boom if needed.

Vanmarcke wanted to get himself over the climb with the big guys by getting a head start. That would be beneficial for both Boom and Vanmarcke, but he didn't get a lot of space, so his attack didn't have a great effect.

I don't really understand why Vanmarcke screwed Boom by attacking. Had he gotten a lot more space, Boom would not have had to chase because Vanmarcke was up front and only about 30 seconds back on gc. Had he gotten a bit more space, Vanmarcke would have been in the same group with Boom closer to the finish an could have helped him in chasing back Wellens (if they wanted to).

Does anybody maybe have some local knowledge about the stage tomorrow? I know the climbs aren't really climbs, but I'm hoping the finishing circuit is designed well. If the roads are narrow, some people might be inclined to attack, considering some of the gaps are small. I also reckon Boom might want to challenge some boni sprints, considering he is only 7 seconds back.

Don't know the details of the roads, but here is a reminder of the stage:

Lotto's team:
22.DEBUSSCHERE Jens
23.BROECKX Stig
24.ROELANDTS Jurgen
25.SIEBERG Marcel
26.VANENDERT Jelle
27.WELLENS Tim
28.DOCKX Gert

Somewhat stronger than Giant with Jelle etc.

Anyway its going to be interesting today.

Bumped on British Eurosport in favour of speedway which apparently couldn't happen yesterday. It stinks. Been a great race, jersey changing hands regularly, building up to a great climax, even a Brit in the top 10 but they just can the live coverage. I wish we could get ES International instead.

Britain has the current speedway world champion and current championship leader (although technically half Brit-half Aussie). I bet the viewing figures for a speedway gp and this Eneco tour stage would not be too different.

Robbie McEwen apparently tweeted while watching this:

"watched a few km of Eneco Tour on tv. WTF is that thing on Van Baarle’s head? WORST HELMET EVER. a **** pot w/ a hole in it. Seriously bad"
