Why not?

It's not like Stybar was ever going to pull having Chavanel behind. You can't demand all people to cheer the rider who you think deserved to win.

OPQS did that for a while today though. :p

Can you understand this: Didn't see the race. Explain me what happened?

I always cheered for stybar, should i stop now cause dumoulin did that? If he wins he deserves it for sure. Didn't stybar wheelsuck cause chava was behind him?

No way stybi wanted to do that, teamorder.

Why wouldn't he want to do that? He was a wheelsucker for most of his cyclocross career, it was only in his last 2 years that he started taking initiative (a bit like Pauwels actually).

Seriously. Dumoulin fell with Gilbert, was 1 minute behind, came back, and did 15km of work with Stybar wheelsucking him, and people are still cheering for Stybar.

Can anybody explain why?

Simple answer is because Chava was behind so Stybar not allowed to work. Also the way Stybar came hurtling around that final bend to sneak 2nd place and bag the 6 secs time bonus on the line was pretty impressive you must admit.

I'm hoping that Dumoulin can hold onto the jersey tomorrow though because he really does deserve it. Superb riding from him today, not only to get back on after the crash but to work so hard for so long....all on his own! Chapeau Tom Dumoulin.

Stybar looks like a smart & capable road rider now, just very unlucky in Paris Roubaix, expecting him to evolve into one of the best classics riders over the next couple of years.

he also only wheelsucked in PR (until his fall) so yeah, i couldnt care less

Barely could hang on with Canc in his first classic final, yea let's take over

Btw had a teammate up front and when he was caught, it was hanging on for dear life.

Regardless of that, he wasn't the strongest today and he isn't the strongest in this race. So I don't want Stybar to win because just because of OPQS tactics.

His stage win earlier this week was cool though, no ahrd feelings there

Stybar took me by surprise. Wonderful ride, and tactically excellent. He was keeping track of all the attacks, while still being aware of the team's GC aspirations regarding time diff between Chava and Domoulin. I think he lied when he said he doesn't sprint well. Or perhaps, he is moving around with the right set of sprinters.

Wonderful rider by Domoulin. What a massive engine, pulling the last @ten km on his own, except for that late respite from Bakelaants.

My heart weeps for Boom though. After magically keeping hold of GC lead in yesterdays TT, the stage looked a bit too much for him.

Stybar would have won this years PR easily without his crash.

I think Vanmarcke would have won the sprint between them. (Well, he could easily outsprint Cancellara but a sprint at Paris-Roubaix is very different compared to Omloop)

I hope one hell of a break goes creating chaos.

Stannard or Langeveld to take the stage win.

Jungels getting 14th @ +0:56 on the stage today. Not bad.

Tom Dumoulin on twitter: 'wtf did I do today?' :p

Awesome. I had 1 previous post in this thread about how Dumoulin keeps on impressing me this year. He certainly impressed me again... wow.

I really hope he can hold on to the jersey, but OPQS will give him hell tomorrow. It will be very very hard.

Great GC action but also chapeau to the break. Lopez looked very strong at the end despite how long he had been away. Great win
