What's the reasoning of Walscheid and Moschetti going in the break do we think?

It's like watching Kristoff in DDV
90kg Walscheid probably won't be able to do a lot in the final if the bunch rides hard on the climbs, so he gets a headstart and his teammate Consonni, who is good in a bunch sprint after a hard, hilly race, gets to sit in the bunch.
I guess Moschetti is also not that sure that he'll still have the legs to sprint properly if the bunch rides the climbs at a decent pace, so he wants a headstart.

I don't know where to put it because there isn't a thread for it but looking through the landscape they are riding through today (Taunus) I wonder how much you could do with the terrain in Germany when it comes to great bike racing.

But coming out of the Ullrich, Zabel and Aldag Days they had image problems, money problems, problems with the organization (comparable to the Netherlands) and they also didn't took risks in doing something bold.

At the moment the racing landscape is mostly sprinters classics (or minor classics) and the Deutschland Tour. Especially the combo of medium mountain ranges and relatively big population enters should allow for a good development of the racing scene if the money flows back in and they have interesting route designs.

can't find a profile for the climb as a whole, unfortunately, but this is basically the new (2nd) Feldberg ascent: Mammolshain first, then this side of the Feldberg right after, with only a 2k plateau in between

Thought I'd tune in into the public broadcasting coverage, watched for 10 minutes and German commentator already lamented about Kämna going to the Giro instead of the Tour because it's DA BEST AND BIGGEST race in cycling and we want to see these German role models there (lol). Next they cut to the peleton and he creams himself over Buchmann leading the peleton. Christ. Switched to GCN+ on French now, best way of understanding a bit but not enough to get annoyed.

Fan attendance is mad tho, really a shame that the German WT races are so trivial because the amount of people showing have been really really good (last years Euro was insane, basically champs d'elysee level for such a terrible course).

Is Sinky rehabilitated enough to be shown on the broadcast? He used to be an annual fixture in the broadcast too since he's from Fulda.

His ban is finished at December 31, 2024, afaik.

I hope for a return to Soudal QS afterwards. So Lefevere in future can celebrate two victories in spring one day races, every year: Remco in LBL and Patrik Sinkewitz in Frankfurt.

ATM Patrik trains hard and occasionally trains with faithful fans (recreational riders). Plus, he owns a bike shop.

Patrik has some unfinished business with the TdF, so thumbs up for a comeback.

He however will have to make peace with Bramati, beforehand…
