Basically Remco can do nothing right it seems. If he waits and isn't aggressive he's playing into Pogacar's hands; it he attacks he's an idiot. he's probably not strong enough to beat Pogi anyway but should he not at least try? (I know according to the Pogi fans he shouldn't even bother participating in the same races, but still.)
It's great racing, but with his team mates, Remco should try to have only 1 pulling and save some to attack, so Pog has to respond. They should make this a much more tactical race and now they're racing it like they have the top favourite while realistically, they have the silver medal favourite. It is only the best tactics if Evenepoel is as good, or better than Pog, and that's a bit of an unproven scenario for the time being.

If you only have winner mentality when it suits you best, you don't really have a winner mentality, now do you?
Depends. For someone like Vingegaard, a winning mentality is focusing on winning. You can't win everything, so sacrificing lesser things in order to win big is the mentality of a winner.

Investing scarce resources to get 4th here is not winning.

Yeah, judging by some comments towards Vingegaard, I guess people would say that Armstrong didn't have a winning mentality.

You're grasping at straws, trying to make something academic out of the fact that he just hasn't maintained his shape for this race.
