I’m wrestling with the end of Eurosport Player, which was a pretty good product.

Can anybody confirm that the Discovery+ Standard package is as comprehensive as what Eurosport offered. Especially in respect of on demand coverage. I watch alot of cycling on catch up due to work commitments so need the on demand library.

Definitely. Races only disappear after precisely a year.

I truly hate the BBC coverage. I might have to bite the bullet and subscribe to Discovery+
there are bits of the Discovery+ coverage that outdo the BBC for cringe factor, its more like BBC+ in some parts, Orla gets to do another bantz central breakaway Olympic style, and yes Blythe is still there.

The only benefit is there are so many sports going on, the slightly less popular ones, are very old school Eurosport coverage, you just drop into a sport, no intro, no studio, just commentators who actually seem to know the sport and competitors and can talk knowledgeably about it. and refreshingly few ad breaks too. (part of me thinks its just the international broadcast feed theyre tapping into, as I cant beleive theyve hired this many different commentators)

Can we start a petition to get Brian Smith solo for more smaller races, please? Was great to have a matter-of-fact commentator not babbling about all sorts of non-race-related things, for once. And no 'banter', too.
I remember years back he did a solo piece for I think Kurne-Brussels-Kurne for cycling.tv but bar a commentator vanishing (Kirby at one of the chinese races last season?) it has rarely happened since.

Seeing BS has got to go to in person Czechia too.... organisers probably shelling out to promote the race.

Am I understanding this correctly - from the Olympic RR thread:
Now D+ has ad-breaks, like shitty old fashioned Eurosport?
Only for the Olympics, I think. If I wanna watch the ORR on D+ I need to do it through their Olympic portal thingy, and I'm forced to have Norwegian commentators. The race doesn't show up when choosing the cycling tab as usual.

So naturally I'm watching the ORR on the 'other' website ...

At least in UK, the trick is to make sure that you are looking at the sport-specific feed, not the ES programming. Access it via the list of olympic sports, not the first big shiny cycling related image on the app (or the usual, non-olympic, route to cycling coverage)

They'd rather you watch the version of coverage that generates them extra income, but offer (I can't vouch for the situation in Denmark) uninterrupted coverage for subscribers.

every subscription service ultimately waters down that uninterrupted coverage for subscribers eventually, assuming they stay around long enough not to get bought out by some other corporation.

wouldnt be surprised if they note not that much kickback from it during the olympics to slowly creep it across into Discovery/Max going forward.
