No, he wasn't. I can agree the gap is way bigger now between Rog and Pog/Vingo but Nibali wasn't at all in the same level as Froome or Contador (in 2014).

"With an average of 417 watts, the Italian is stronger than Christopher Froome who had nevertheless crushed the 2013 Tour with his 412 watts. His runner-up on the podium, Sunday, on the Champs-Elysées, will be more than seven minutes behind."

Oh please, not this again

This one (aka GT win) is pretty sweet, I have to say. He's been in control of this race since minute one & used his team perfectly - even today - when people were screaming DOOM online because Vlasov & Martinez dropped out.

The way he bossed that final climb was great to see.
Who were? They meant close to nothing when you have Lipo, but I think the main concern was that he álso got the bug.

Twitter & various forums. It's pretty obvious the excitement a lot of people online wanted from today's stage involved a scenario in which Rog had some sort of disaster.

But in any case, the internet is gonna internet & say sh*t stuff. That's nothing new. I'm just relieved this one has ended well. I was pretty stressed watching the stage but Lipowitz & Adria were great today.

Hopefully I'm not being a worrywart but I hope they identified where the salmonella came from very quickly and that Rogla didn't get in contact with it. That and I hope he'll stay upright tomorrow and it'll be smooth sailing to a glorious Vuelta victory no. 4! :)

i've had salmonella, i think he should be able get through a 30 minute ITT fine if they load him up with enough ibuprofen. he might end up with brown shorts though.

I mean... it's ridiculous at this point. If it's not a haybale or some sort of freak accident which gets him, it's poisoning.

I mean I'm used to discussing whether he's recovered from a crash before a vital stage. Recovering from freaking salmonella is something new entirely.

Fortunately right now, it looks like Rog dodged the bullet & he isn't affected.

Someone earlier here was talking about 'why' Bora bought Rog.

Tbh I think it's pretty self-evident: he scores.

Yeah it's not the Tour but when today goes as expected he'll have won the Dauphiné and the Vuelta this season. That's why they paid what they paid. It'll be Red Bull's first GT win and Bora's second. It's big for them.

It also totally cements his place in his team now. He's no longer "Rog who won stuff at Jumbo", he's now "Rog who wins stuff with Red Bull".

In any case his ITT start time today is 19:04.
