Still think we should be a bit cautious in overextrapolating from Montjuic to the Giro, especially this Giro parcours.

He's so much better at fresh 2 minute W/kg tests than the competition here he can blow htem off his wheel without even being fully gassed at the top, which then enables him to open the gap while the rest is taking a breather.

When I first saw this thread it was named "Primoz Roglic is the new Tony Rominger".
As of today, Roglic has the same number of wins as Rominger.
That should've been the most fitting thread-name ever.
I think the first iteration was "Primoz Roglic is the new Landa" IIRC. That aged like milk when he started winning Grand Tour ITTs in his first year in the WT.

Speaking of which

I don't know this guy, but I'm in on the bandwagon
Some /r/agedlikewine material

There was a time (2023-2024) when they had exactly the same number of GTs won (exactly the same races) and major one week races won. Since then Primoz moved ahead in terms of achievements.

I'd say getting in Ayuso's head was probably something worth noting if we're extrapolating towards the Giro here.

Ayuso seemed to have trouble dealing with the emotional roller-coaster today, i.e. losing the first sprint, winning the second sprint and then getting cracked by Rog. It's like he wasn't sure what to do and dithered.

I mention Ayuso because that'll probably be the main duel in the Giro.

Roglic has now 11 wins in the big 7 one week stageraces.

Paris Nice 1 x 2022
Tirenno Adriatico 2 x 2019, 2023
Catalonia 2 x 2023, 2025
Itzulia 2 x 2018, 2021
Romandie 2 x 2018, 2019
Dauphine 2 x 2022, 2024

Is there any rider in the last 30 years who has more wins than him in these races.

Without bad crashes he would also have won Dauphine 2020 and Paris Nice 2021.

He only lost Paris Nice 2024 and Itzulia 2022 in the last 7 seasons when he finished the race, i think. Or am i wrong.

Thats impressive.

I want to like the guy but then there’s this thread and it’s tough.

Hell of a win today.

I agree. The thread should be way more... dramatic! With real oomph. Like "enter King Rog's dominion"

Hell, Spain could almost be renamed exactly that considering he's won something like 9/15 stage races he's competed in over in Spain.
