I don't know to be honest, i was explained this is on how it's done so others will have to explain it further, more knowledgeable. To me it never made perfect sense anyway.

All in all Tour 2026, unless things change, isn't something i need to get deeply involved in and i am sure that RBH and target fandom will manage just fine. Vuelta, here things are more serious for me and stage racing through the whole 2026 season, that is on where the focus will be. Lets surpass 100 and we can always do the Tour in 2027 season. Rogla said he was hoping Ralph would shout out his name too, when announcing all the signings and extensions in term of the youngsters.

A podium and a stage win would be deemed successful for RBH, but above all, improving relative to others is the key for someone in their position.

All good Abi, Rogla is a smart man. He knows what awaits at the Tour, so the Vuelta is better. He’s just playing 3D chess while the others are served up as food.

I somehow doubt it, that finishing third will satisfy all that much. Anyway, in 2026 season that is really not my problem. After all Rogla is under more pressure, to win. First things first, TA.

Should they?

If a team is serious about GC I think the only kind of sprinter they can afford to bring is a Van Aert, and those don't grow on trees. Maybe Mads Pedersen but he would have to forgo the points jersey chase. Van Aert is kind of a Unicorn, capable of performances like stage 20 of the last Giro, willing to drop 30 places in the GC to prepare himself to do more work in the next days, and able to almost always win a stage somewhere along the way without really any sort of a train.

Last year the theory apparently was somewhat different, but yeah, lets see on how they tackle it in the 2026 season.

TDF is the most demanding stage race because of the shape of the rivals and racing tension, so he couldn't be in a discussion of the best with those who have won several Tours. Rominger either, for the same reason.
He would be the best of the rest, Rominger could be second and then those who have won several stage races like Roberto Heras or winners of multiple Giro d'Italia and then riders who won minor stage races like Sean Kelly.
Sean Kelly won more stage races than LeMond, but it's obvious why Lemmond should be considered better stage racer. Perhaps Kelly won so many Paris-Nice because he couldn't win Tour de France. Roglic has had to compete in more Vuelta than other riders because he hasn't won or finished the Tour may times.

Yeah it’s tough to place him historically. I’d have to put him below some I think he would have beaten had he been in the same era (Chris Froome, for example) based on the lack of Tour wins. I’d personally put him above several recent Tour winners though - Bernal, Thomas, Nibali, Wiggins, Evans, “Schleck”, Sastre, Pereiro.

I'm not sold on Froome beating Roglic easily, especially if Roglic had HIS Visma team, not the Lotto team at the time.
Froome had his weaknesses in week 3, I think Roglic (barring crashes of course) could have won 2 Tours in Froome's era.

If this was the NFL where team results are paramount the answer would be everyone. That's assuming RBH has very clear goals and the principal riders sign on. It's what makes taking on UAE and JV possible and satisfying on a team basis. Whether petty ambitions impact those goals, along with crash injuries, illnesses and just random ego-riding remain to be seen. They don't have much time to confirm the necessary dedicated cohesion of their 2 main GT rivals, IMO.

Ultimately you just don't know how riders would adapt to the prevailing training developments of a given era. Obviously Roglic achieved less while reaching a higher level due to racing in a higher level era, but stylistically he was built for the Sky era.

2013 is also just that Tour where everyone else was just *** until the Alps and Quintana donated minutes for no reason early on.

Froome's preferred style was basically exactly like how Roglic was attacking all over the last Vuelta he won. Just use the team to blow everyone over the limit while you're the only one who isn't completely totalled.

In 2013 and 2015 Froome build his advantage in TT's and easy mountain stages. Fairly sure Roglic could hold him pretty close, or even beat him in some of those stages.
How would he perform in the hard mountain stages in the third week, when Froome was dropped, is another question, but Froome was certainly beatable.

From time to time all sort of discussions emerge, for example placing somebody in history, comparing, ... the point of my question should put things into more realistic perspective. Rogla is the only one and that IMHO speaks volumes by itself. As for your additional questions i don't really see relevance here, as Pogi lost a couple of times too. That is rather normal.
