Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

I’m generally aligned with your takes, but I don’t quite understand this one. He has said before and during the Vuelta that his back still hurts. This is what the Cyclingnews recap said after his first victory on stage 4:

“"It was tough - the heat, and for me now coming a bit back," Roglič said, adding that he is still struggling with his back injury.”

Here he is after his stage 8 win per the guardian :

“I’m going every day full racing, just see how I will respond to all of this input to my body after a hard period with my injury. I still feel it, so we’ll see,” Roglic said.
To be fair, it was mostly a joke, but I didn't realize he said that after his wins as well.

He probably does and will continue to feel hard efforts for after a race some time. Like, forever. Doesn't mean he can't race with the discomfort as long as it doesn't force a dramatic change of position. Sleeping afterward won't be as easy and, as an official Old Person; waking up and getting out of bed is a battle of wills vs. calcification. My will almost always wins. Almost always.

So Patxi Vila hinting the media might got it wrong and asking the wrong questions, Mas now being the main focus.
It is and it should be. But they are in a messed up situation where they still have to go attacking O'Connor instead of merely defending against Mas/Landa.

All is not bleak though. If I were Bora, I would stop attacking the moment they get within TT striking distance and let Mas do the attacking from that point on, since he can't count on TT to improve his position against O'Connor.

Agree, and it won't be that long anymore. I actually don't think O'Connor will finish on the podium anymore, but that doesn't mean Roglic has it in the bag. I can see some other contenders take time back on Roglic if he has a bad back day

If they would still have leaders jersey then IMHO Mas & Co. would be in much better position, especially if Almeida would not abandon due to Covid. As for cracking Mas, they should at some point, if possible. After taking the jersey or not and instead waiting for an ITT likely comes down to a much less important decision.

You take the jersey out of Mas' reach when you can. O'Connor will be a casualty of that effort in almost every scenario. Ideally that would be on Sunday's stage for either or both of them.

This is what happened a bit today. Sunday's stage will likely be pivotal for all concerned and then the slog through the remaining, very painful stages. Tough end to a GT.

Nah I’m mad asf, these dribblers thought someone who dropped an Angrilu performance that the fisherman had to put everything he had to hold the wheel the entire climb would have trouble with Mas. Who are you people
We were also factoring in the crash and how much the back pain will affect Roglic. It’s not like there wasn’t anything to worry about in regards to his shape.
