Why not? RBH is smart enough to understand Roglic didn't have the right build up for TDF this year, after the issues at the Giro

Likely they will condition leadership with support role at the Tour so i assume Rogla will be able to chose in between Giro or Vuelta. But all in all that likely isn't the biggest problem, leadership on where you basically ride alone, that IMHO is subpar. Said that Rogla will IMHO push through one way or another. This is not his first set back in professional career, Rogla will be fine.

Why would he ride alone? If he gets leadership in a GT?

I guess that is something for Remco to address now in regards to RBH, on where is the team, considering the potential involved and at the Tour.

P.S. Do you reckon he will still do lead outs for the sprinter?
It's not like Evenepoel decides who does what and where. If Evenepoel isn't riding the Vuelta, then why would he decide what support Roglic should get if he does? Obviously RBH will send their A-Team to TDF, but due to talent in their team they can still send a great team to Giro/Vuelta too.

@Berniece

If RBH will send their best 8 GT GC orientated riders to the Tour 2026 then you can count Rogla in. If they won't, well, then how on earth could leadership at Giro/Vuelta look like, beyond riding for yourself. Anyway. We'll see as we go, on what the decisions will be.

Solution: split the team and create a new outfit, like Toro Rosso aka AlphaTauri in f1 is Red Bull's second team.

Rog can be leader. Give him a few besties (Tratnik, Vlasov, Denz) and he's good to go. Anywhere. Even the TdF.

@Rackham

If they will split GTs in between them that is fine, if we are talking about the Tour then unless a proper selection is made and only best of the best is send, in regards to GT GC racing, then just send Remco as Rogla has other things to do. Lead out man for Jordi at Giro and similar.

This new DS really seems to have faith in his riders

If this is real then I'm about to go onto X and join the #TEAMROGLAMOMS in boycotting Red Bull.

So where was your boy Evenepoel eh Sven? Stepping off le vélo eh? I guess only other riders can carry injuries and problems than merit a lesser performance. Nah, what sort of asinine commentary is this. Cycling is hard. Rog had a questionable prep after the Giro. And Aldag was fired to bring this guy in?

No words.

IMHO Sven can be there in the car if RBH manages a selection of their best 8 GT GC orientated riders and sends them to the Tour 2026. The thing is any other option will likely be a flop anyway.

Said that Tour 2026 is a year away and ATM i don't really care and reality of the things involved should hit much sooner. We'll see.

I think it’s real, but he didn’t have all the information at that moment. He doesn’t know what RBH knows. Not to mention he isn’t wrong about the “fighting spirit”. These comments were made in the first week of the TDF before his attacking spirit and when Roglic said “I don’t care”.

The way i see it is German media would butcher them if they would sacrifice Lipo for Remco to finish third at the Tour. The stakes are now higher and if RBH wants media peace then at minimum they need to finish second at the Tour 2026, regardless of the rider. One of them will hence need to beat either Pogi or Jonas, or both. If they won't send their best crop then forget about it altogether. On top of that and at minimum they need Primož Roglič to do their PR at the Tour.

Some people do tend to stand behind a horse and poke them in the cheek, at least until experiencing the kick.

Honestly I don't get the obsession and constant drama surrounding Rog.

Even a terrible Rog got 8th in the TdF. It is what it is and he is who he is. That's not cheap bad sports psychology there it's just a fact. You can't extrapolate (& especially in Vanthourenhout's case because he was about to get the job in the same team) Rog's TdF week one with some sort of broad conclusion.

I'd say unless proven otherwise, a top form Rog is still one of the top 5 GT riders in the world, maybe a bit lower if someone is feeling ungenerous. It just seems asinine (I use that word again) to pile on Rog when guys like Vlasov and Martinez are at this point basically cyclotouristes.

And neither of those have legendary peloton positioning skills either. The way I see it is there's all these other professional cyclists who get to just... cruise and pick up a paycheck... whereas with Rog? It's drama every time with someone of importance questioning his worth.

There are a lot of cons involved but one big pro IMHO is RBH needs to finish at minimum second at the Tour 2026 or they will get butchered by the media. And that doesn't leave them with a whole lot of options. Only the finest and only if all stars align, otherwise such attempt likely already failed.

It would be a nothingburger for a random Belgian pundit. But if you're about to sign as the head manager of that team, torching the biggest rider on that team like that even based on incomplete information is completely asinine.

It all makes the Evenepoel signing feel less like an ambitious signing and much more like a hostile takeover.
