Didnt TGH break his leg or suffered a really bad injury? Not to mention he is 31 years old. Many riders either retire, decline or falls into being useful doms for their team at that point.

And Rog hit the deck many times himself and he's almost 37.

I don't have a problem with people pointing out he's not the rider he used to be or among the top anymore (fair enough), but double standards should probably be called out. Aka people who twist the knife and pretend this season so far is something dramatic and worth getting wound up about are barking up the wrong tree.

It's the last year of his contract FYI. So we don't even know if he'll be riding next year. That's how 'close' we are to the potential end (& naturally the level he has ties into this i.e. if he was crushing it out there it wouldn't be the case would it).

Just like false things about the team should be called out, not saying you or most are stating them.

I have no opinion on the team anymore tbh.

All things being equal they're headed into the Tour with two leaders who IMO will struggle to make the podium if Pog, Seixas and Vinge are at their best. This podium uncertainty extends to the Giro and now the Vuelta as well (due to Rog's lack of form).

My opinion? There's really not much a cycling team can do when its riders aren't the best in a race. The rest is just handwringing over small details. Clearly Lipowitz was trying hard to beat Rog in Itzulia but that's just the way things are.

I wanted to write after he has done some interviews but I do not think one is coming.
I think he is quite disappointed in his team and he obviously did not care during the last stage, but it seemed that he kinda knew what the deal with Lipo is and he came to the race a little bit resigned already.
When it comes to the team, it is quite obvious that they are the peloton's joke at the moment. IDK what they think they are achieving the way that they are riding, but at least people are talking about them.
When it comes to Lipo I think he obviously wants to be the leader in the team and he is willing to ride against his teammates to do so. There is a bit of a double standard his ride during stage 5 is not discussed more. He intentionally rode against Rog in order to take 2nd (2nd, I mean it counts for noting) when he could have either made Paul ride on his own or have 2 people to try to beat Paul in the sprint to the line. On the other hand I seems to me that Lipo is tactically very inept, so maybe that is part of the explanation for the way he rode on stage 5, but for sure he is not a rider anyone wants to have in his team.

Lipo has now beaten both his contenders for the leadership. One goal done.

Lipowtiz was going back to the car to get bottles for Primoz on more than 1 stage and more than 1 occasion. He was not riding against anyone.

Legs spoke on the road.

At the very most Lipowitz' presence may have made Roglic less motivated to save his own GC when he was getting dropped, but that's really about it.

It seems that the team has decided to not support Rogličes ambitions any more. It's consistent with Peiper statements from a few days back. When i seen the team they dedicated to Rogla for Itzulia and after when Lipo was assigned as "support", the whole thing felt rather strange already. Then stage 5 came, on where the team even rode against Roglič. That is nasty stuff.

Cian i guess had a point but what can one do. Onto Romandie.

You can root for everybody of course thats fine. But by now I think it is abundently clear that this is not the same Primoz we saw a couple of years back.

His stomp is gone, the real climbs have become a weakness again, the TT is not a big advantage over competitors anymore.

Maybe it will work out in the Vuelta still. The WC is a big advantage for Roglic in that regard as the better riders are all not listed for the Vuelta.

And dont get me wrong, I like Roglic, I will like him to win this Vuelta to get the record. But pretending that he is still one of the top dogs in the peloton and that we have seen little signs of actual decline is just delusional.
You seem to be suggesting that hope and reality testing are automatically a contradiction. Of course Roglic has diminished in ability/strength.
