Fausto has not even been selected for the tour de Provence. So I do not know the strange meaning of this dream I had.

Next race is Tour of Sardinia starting on Wednesday.

A break from racing after January but no training camp, just training at home. There was an MHB Ballan team presentation in Budapest a couple of weeks ago though.

Let's see how is the level.

I don't know if Fausto is trying for GC at tour of Sardinia or if he is just a road captain. Today he did a lot of work on the front for zoccatato (I presume), when MHB were the only team interested in chasing the 4 attackers. I was happy with the performance but it was an uphill battle when no other teams wanted to help.

His 17th place on the stage is his best result in a stage or GC since the 2024 tour of Oman, over 2 years ago, which is both pretty nice and pretty sad.

Let's see how the rest of the week goes.

Back racing this week at the settimana coppi e bartali. 4 of the 5 stages are hilly (based on my 2 minutes analysis) which means hopefully we see plenty of fausto near the front.

I was wrong. Altitude camp was only 11 days, shorter than I thought, and before turkey fausto will do tour of Hainan this week. A race that he won in 2018.

18th overall in Hainan this week.

Not a bad performance by Fausto, less than 1 minute down and ahead of some good riders. There was not a lot of opportunities to make a difference.

We go again in a few days at tour of turkey.

Back racing at mercantour classic tomorrow

Fausto finally did a good performance!!!

His 6th place in today's mercantour classic is his best result since the coppa bernocchi in October 2023.

He was fighting hard on the final climb, in the end only in the last 2km did he drop away from the front group. Not only that but he attacked the descent of la coulloule earlier in the race.

He showed more grinta and more balls than 99% of the giro field today.

Honestly after turkey I lost all hope to even keep the thread updated, I was really down about fausto. However, now it looks like the last month training block at home went well.

He best some big riders today. Jegat. G martin. Jose manuel diaz. Geoffrey bouchard.
