Not a win for Cofidis but with 2nd and 5th (Izagirre out of nowhere) they're gonna be really happy cause they need the points.

Aranburu should have stayed in the wheel a lot longer. There's no point in taking the back position if you try to pass immediately when the front guy opens the sprint too early...

Izagirre teleporting to the top five?

I want to see McNulty's power numbers from the last 50k. Dude just kept riding till the finish, insane.

Some extremely unselfish riding by Nuggets and not least a very impressive show of strength. Hats off to him.

Great race by Aranburu too and hes fast he did everything right untill the launch, he was propably just more cooked

On rewatch it was just Aranburu opening too early.

Sorry but you just completely mistake the kind of rider you think he is if you expected him to win out of that group lol

Not really it's just that Widar said his best numbers are at 5 minute efforts or something if i remember that right. I was expecting a slightly longer/tougher climb as well (did not check the route). Still surprised he was not closer after that little uphill bump.

What a weird finish from Aranburu, rode perfectly until the end then for some reason made it into a long range Kasper Asgreen sprint.

Well, that last climb wasn't close to being a 5min effort, like at all. It's for heavier punchers, and in a sprint he also would've had no chance at all.

Also this isn't some u23 racing anymore.

Pau Marti deserves more praise, sure didn't hit the wind once till he was alone with Widar and even then he barely did any work, but still, he isn't someone that's being talked about a lot but is talented.

I don't think that makes much difference if the talent is there. I was just expecting a harder climb. Obviously a pocket climber won't have sprinter watts.

I think it was you who commented that Morgado would be anxious to win at home.

Cofidis hasn't won, they're more anxious to win. And Morgado has always been a cyclist who doesn't get nervous.

Anyone who followed Morgado in the Junior and U23 categories knows he's the least anxious rider. When he was a junior, what stood out was how calm and mature he was for his age. He seemed older than his rivals, not just in physical appearance and strength.

But you said after that climb that you expected more from Widar...

And he's talented, but he ain't no Alien.

Cofidis won last week

Morgado's desire to win the race was evident given he did almost the entire last part at the front

Desperation to win a race isn't the same as anxiety

Yes, like i said, still found it surprising the gap got that big that quick, even if was just an uphill bump not fully suited for him. I expected him to be a surprise act at Algarve. But maybe i need to re-adjust my expectations regarding widar.
2 early to tell. Obviously it's only hist first year, but my guess is Lotto has been taking good care of him. So by LBL i do feel we can make an early judgement call on how good he can possibly get.

I don't see him as GT guy though. I don't think he has a 3 week stamina in him. I would love to be proven wrong though.
