How much kms a flat stage should have to be decisive for GC? no coblestones, no sterrato. just enough flat to see a main group of 10 riders, and have a final like on a HC climb. 300 km won't do it, as the Milano-San Remo show us. Maybe 400 like in the old times?

50 km, with just kilometer after kilometer exposed to fierce crosswinds. something along the coast sounds nice or along a river bed. most important part is that the finale is ridden in a crosswind, otherwise it will come back together.
