We all know Floyd doped in 2006 with Phonak, won the tour, tested positive, had his Tour victory stripped, and lied about doping during the 2006 Tour. The worst thing he did was take peoples hard earned money for his defense when he was guilty all along. IF Floyd gets any money at all from his whistleblower suit, he should return all of it to the people who contributed to his defense funds. From that viewpoint, I almost hope Floyd does get some money that he can return. But do you really think Floyd will do that? IF Floyd would do that OR had raced clean himself, then he's entitled to compensation. But not otherwise. You can agrue he covered up for LA and is therefore entitled to compensation. But Floyd, having doped, was also covering up for himself and should not be entitled. I just don't see the logic in taking money from one rat and giving it to another.

I hope he reads this and does what you suggest. I think the long term response would be in his best interest and go a long way to restoring the sport's credibility as well.

I'm not arguing that at all. It is not a "he deserves it" situation. He merely is entitled to it b/c of the "whistleblower" statute as defined by the govt. "Come fwd and help us uncover fraud, and we'll give you a cut of the proceeds as a reward for having come fwd."

As for FLandis' legal defense, I believe it's been said that over 1/2 his legal bills was donated by Dr. Brent Kay. So how much did Floyd really "bilk" out of Joe Sixpack? I didn't buy his book or do the "FloydFairness" thing. Maybe some ppl did, but I doubt it amounted to all that much.

If the guy gets out of this w/ enough money to start a small 'nest egg', I'm not going to begrudge him...

Okay - let FL have his cut for helping expose fraud. But to be consistent, FL should return the percentage he fraudulently bilked out of Joe whomever, even if it's just 1 percent.

done and done. And he gets to kick Lance in the stone.
