For the historic value (and some humor) - Papp's epo website

Most people on this forum likely never visited Papp's website that sold the epo. Now if you did shame on you!

You have to love some things about the internet. Archive.org has records of many websites include eposino.com

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://eposino.com

From the website's FAQ;
Will you release my name or contact information to third parties?
We absolutely, positively, will never reveal your contact information to anyone not directly involved in the fulfillment of your order. We honor and respect your privacy.

Did anyone actually believe that one? Sucker. But of course the EPO was for your pet turtle who has anemia (poor thing).

FYI to other countries doping agencies.

What countries do you ship to?
We ship globally, including to the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the EU and Latin America.

Classic line on the website
we expect that our name will earn wider public dissemination.

I have wondered whether eposino.com was cleverly designed by Joe to appear to be a completely Chinese operation or whether he was simply acting as a U.S. distributer for the Chinese company he was dealing with. I seem to recall a few grammar errors that made it seem like some of the copy was written by a non-English speaker.

Anyone who came to the site would think that they were dealing with Chinese and their order details would be unavailable to U.S. authorities. If it was all Joe's idea then it was a smart way to present the store front.

Of course the big brick wall in any operation like that is the shipping address. It is easy enough to use untraceable electronic communication and to use a service like Western Union to anonymously make payment, but ultimately the product has to be shipped to a real location. Using phony IDs to rent PO boxes is a crime that is punished more harshly than receiving most PEDs.

Yeah, if I remember right, some of the stuff Joe posted on the Eposino forum made it seem like he was a non-native English speaker. He also changed the name of the product, the Chinese name is Epsino so he kept the Chinese connotation while making sure his possible clients knew he was offering them EPO.

-- the front page does say that they "employ the strictest protocols to guard against the disclosure of your personal information or order history", which doesn't go nearly as far as the answer above.

I think there might well be 187 customers who are entitled to a full refund!! I'd imagine since 2008, most have already taken their custom elsewhere....

i imagine 186 customers will not be pursuing this through a legal channel to recover their money due to JP not respecting of privacy:rolleyes:

Thing is with this whole thing is most reports say Joe acted as an intermediary between the suppliers and the athletes, at that he ran the website.. |Why? could the chinese not find a web designer to create a website for them.

If the chinese had the dope and a working website ive never really understood why they needed joe.

Joe was a distribution channel for them. All manufacturers need some route to get their goods to an end-user or customer. When moving into overseas markets, it's pretty standard practise to set up an agreement with an established distributor to shift your goods. Obviously, I'm talking about legitimate trade here, as I don't know much about illegal trade...

If you do it via a distribution deal, you keep your costs and exposure down; as apposed to going the whole hog and setting up your own overseas branch or company.

I'm sure the Chinese in question had other distributers located around the world! Maybe they didn't all use websites for their sales??

Haha! Of course this Italian appreciated the discretion! Now he will find that the site wasn't as discreet as he thought it was... Does anyone know of any pro rider living in Brescia?

Are these kinds of testimonies real anyway? I've always assumed that most or all of such testimony at those, shall we say, dubious websites is fake, put up there by the webmaster himself.

In this particular case, why would someone leave electronic traces on this server (such as their IP address) when he values privacy so much?

So does this chinese company who papp was affiliated also deal in human organs(of course friendly harvested) also. What a freak show that company.
Without looking at anything else than their website I am certain that they are morally corrupt.

This is why, on another thread, I said that he shouldn't have named names, which I was understandably slated for. Not because he was breaking the Omerta (I think it's good he did), but because he made promises not to (I thought implicit, but this shows explicit).

A man should always keep his word above all else in my book.

Of course JP is a non-english speaker. He's a philly boy.

joe's not from philadelphia. if you're going to insult a few million people at least get the city right. ;) (joe is from ohio/western PA)

this site looks like a ridiculously stupid idea. how hard would it be for an investigator to order EPO, wait a week, track the transactions, track the shipment, and then see if what showed up was the real thing? cooperation with chinese officials is probably zilch but anyone on US soil would be cooked and quite easily.

With enough juice, you're not just faster, you're from two places simultaneously.

Yeah. Don't want Joe Papp ruining Philly's squeaky-clean image, huh?

Philly and close surrounding area does alot for cycling in America..so no I don't

Of course I'm sure you are referring to other sports in town, and our fans, who do the same thing as other fans in America, but since we threw some snowballs at Santa Clause around 30 years ago...we get a bad rap. Every sports writer in the country when they have nothing to write about uses Philly fans for some "inspiration", it's such lazy journalism

We usually just call it Pittsburgh, although if you want to get technical I believe he's from Bethel Park, just south of town.
