Former Xacobeo doctor sues the team on doping related issues

Timescale error though - Dr Beltrán was hired in August 2009. The Liberty Seguros Continental riders tested positive at the Volta a Portugal in 2009, but the results did not come out until the final week of the Vuelta. Xacobeo fired Dr Beltrán immediately.

Beltrán was not hired "despite" being involved with the positives at Liberty, because there were no positives at Liberty until he'd moved on (well, they weren't made public until after he'd moved on anyway, as the tests were being analysed). He was, however, fired "because of" being involved with the positives at Liberty. Though with Pino in charge that could simply have been scorching the earth.

OFF TOPIC: nice new avatar, Libertine!

You are right. The article also states that Dr Beltrán had been arrested in Italy on doping charges. Anyone knows if this was before being hired by Xacobeo?
