He also came 3rd in 2 Catalunya stages.

I do wish Liqui would let Szmyd play the Nibali role in the Giro. Maybe have him attack on a few climbs while Basso stays back

it confirmed my speculation, I think Johan is going to play double cards, he might even favor Kloden more but use Andy to attract more attention.

I actually think sneaky Johan will not put all eggs into one basket especially so many TT miles this year, Kloden might be his secret weapon in the tour. I highly doubt Kloden will ride the Giro, just my two cents

Bassos strategy is very simple.

Ride 19 days behind Szmyd.

On the 20th day follow Szmyd for 5 hours, then start a tt on the final climb and hope everyone will be dropped by the top.

Szmyd is strong every year (well, maybe last year not so much). He likes to work for a leader, and maybe he knows that he'll always come up short in a GT.

Szmyd was impressive this spring up to now, but he has to keep this shape the next 3.5 weeks...

I think Basso will be Liqui´s clear leader, I see him at least on the podium.
