If 'Oooh I love Contador so much', 'Rui Rui Rui Rui' or 'Schleck brothers, I hate you' isn't trolling, then what is? Ok, maybe for a 7-year old it isn't.

Oh I'm sorry I am just excited because Rui is doing great. If it bothers you so much why don't you just put me on ignore?

Tomorrow's final climb. Good luck trying to win a minute on that last bit, which apparently in Suisse they call an HC climb.

Lol Rui won't have any problems.

gesink will have to try it tomorrow if he wants to win the race, i don't think costa will have many problems on the second category climb on sunday.

Costa will also have piti helping him out which is also very good for him.

Don't worry. 55 seconds is too much and Costa is obviously climbing strong here.

Ah, that already looks better than the climbbybike profile. Still, a bit hard to make up 50 seconds in 3 k, on a Rui Costa with great form.

Plus Rui Costa is clearly in good shape. He was the only one of the GC riders that climbed the Pfannenstiel better than Gesink (albeit 1 second). So he'll probably hold on or even ride away again.

Not much will happen tomorrow.

However, if the gaps won't change by much, there should be 20 or so people within 3 minutes before Sunday. Maybe someone will try to make a race of it on the Glaubenberg.

I remembered perfectly well all the instances you guys are bringing up, I just disagree completely with your interpretation of them.

I said "climbing", not "climbing on the high mountains", and Oman is not higher level than California. Of course he still has some good performances here and there - he's a world-class climber, after all. But he's not been at his level on the climbs the past two years.

Well, no. Whatever happens this weekend won't erase what happened before. If Gesink crushes everyone, I won't say "Whoa, I was wrong, he was climbing as well as ever this past few years!", I'll say "Nice, maybe he got his climbing legs back".

Also, I'm not Ryo, so I don't think the Colombians are supermen. Mt Baldy was a nice win, but not at the top level.

edit: you guys have terrible memory. Last year, all of Gesink's GC results came from good time-trialing and hanging on in the climbs.

I totally agree with you.
Allthough I desperately hope that he will be able to climb like he did in his first few pro years.

He has hardly ever been better than in the Dauphine 11 uphill. Only a super Rodriguez with Giro compensation was better on Allevard.
Maybe the only time he was better was Suisse 2010, on La Punt. That was his best climbing performance ever. Pulling 1'20 on the climb on all other contenders (lost 40 seconds in downhill tho)

It's funny though... first there was the Gesink can't ITT crowd... they lost the discussion. Now there is a Gesink can't climb crowd. They'll lose the discussion too...

Maybe Rabo can attack on the first steep bit, then do a TTT in the flat middle section with Gesink, Mollema, Kruijswijk, Slagter and Ten Dam? :)

I'm not saying Gesink can't climb. I'm saying Gesink still hasn't shown he's capable of climbing at his 2010 level consistently, and that his ITT improvement hasn't been acompanied by any climbing improvement.

In 2010, Gesink *was* putting out pretty bad ITTs. The argument back then (which I agreed with) revolved around the idea that that wasn't his actual, normal level, but that he was underachieving, vs those who said Gesink couldn't and had never been able to time-trial. This is a completely different argument, as I am the one saying Gesink's still not climbing at what should be his normal level.

yeah, no worry, I don't think it's even possible

but indeed, yes, it's a good site and very easy to use. Having the ability to zoom into the altitudes is worth a fortune.

if you are interested in getting a better view into most of the stage profiles I can also recommend you plataformarecorridosciclistas.org, he does a great job and also offers historical knowledge (former results etc.) for most of the climbs of the big stage races.

If Costa cracks, of course, Valverde's only 14 seconds back on the others and with time bonuses available, that's easily doable on Arosa.

But will Valverde hang on? Even on Mende in PN he couldn't. I'm not too confident in Valverde's climbing ability atm

I think Costa is much stronger

But, he hang on and got 2nd like.
