The fans along the roads of the Tour de France seem to be going GaGa over Lance this year (last year too).

No "EPO Lance" painted on the roads.
No Jeering or Spitting.
No death threats.
No armed Gendarmes in the Team Car.
No need for bodyguards.

What happeneed to all the hate predicted by some before this Tour began?

Instead, Lance is riding his bike to the start amongst the crowds.
Signing autographs until his wrist is sore.

The nasty articles in L'Equipe have been replaced by nasty articles in the NY papers lol.

I daresay that many French fans have been a step or two ahead of many American fans for awhile now...

Really got your fail on today Polish...keep up the bad work!

The boys at Public Strategies were busy with the blow-back on the "I was just an employee" rant and forgot to send out the daily newsletter.

Are we supposed to by that? Seems to me, that was documented for years and Lance never corrected it until now. Why was it OK for people to think that he had ownership in the team before FL ratted on him?

Because there was never any need before. All JB/LA theatrics.

Merckx was gut-punched in the 75' Tour by a Frenchman. You think he needed bodyguards? Hell, pro soccer is proof that redneck fans exist the world over. The point is, people get worked up over their athletics. Sometimes, they take it too far.

To MacRoadie and Moose:
Perhaps when you're old enough to ride a bike, you'll at least repsect a man who beat the best riders in the world for 7 consecutive years. Then came back after sitting out 3 Tours and made the podium. Anyone else done that?
As for doping , he's been tested countless times and NEVER tested positive. Either prove your ridiculous allegations or shut the f#*k up!
Nobody says you have to like him or any other rider, but if you can't respect what he's accomplished I don't see how you can call yourself a fan of cycling.
Have a nice day!

I know MacRoadie, he's almost too old to ride a bike......:p
As to Moose, I can't say.
As to the most tested, never tested positive....I'll let others take care of that.

The Wall Street Journal and Newscorp are very credible sources. That's why he is taking a beating back home.

It's strange that you consider it a beating. The 2 months leading up to the tour Lance was on the cover of 6 major titles. Each magazine and writer included that he has had detractors and accusers for years. WSJ as would be expected wrote an article with facts and opinions(all Landis's) about GoGo bars.running red lights and drug use that Landis said he did and nobody else admitted to. When Zabriski, Hindcappe, Ekimov and others tell their story or just plain answer"WTF" I would hardly see Lance as taking anymore of a beating then. The guy is the single reason that an NBC station sank the cash into live and extended tour coverage. The only beating is for the network and it's sponsors after he landed on the pavement. Armstrong has proven a bigger draw than any body could have expected..if he plays his cards right and sticks with the good ol' boy from Texas everybody is full of rage and envy he can parlay this into another 10 or 20 million for motivational speaking and book deals about what pushes middle age to try again..even if you fail. The beating is between cycle weenies who have tried and convicted Lance in the court of public opinion. His bank account and public popularity show not many people know he was "convicted" of anything. The guy is racing in slow motion but collecting respect and cash in hyperdrive.

You must have missed this one Polish.

I have been over here for a while. When people find out I am American they of course ask me if I am here to see Armstrong. When I say that I am not the response is usually something along the line of "Good, because he is an A$$hole"

Perhaps at one time, but not as much since Rupert Murdoch took over.
Other news services haven't been picking up the WSJ/News Corp. stories (other than the initial report of Floyd Landis' allegations).

I'll stop there before crossing over into Clinic territory.
