Don't get me started on Hesjedal and Vandevelde. And by this I mean they don't have any results that make me say "they have a shot at doing something great at the Tour"

As far as I know, Hesjedal and Vande Velde are both healthy and fit. VDV hasn't broken any bones for almost a year now so he could be as good as his previous top 10s. I don't think he showed any great results before those either? Hesj definitely hasn't had the results he had last year but I don't think anything major has gone wrong so he might show up at peak.

I hope they try for stages and maybe a few days in a jersey - any stage, any jersey. TTT win would be ideal for them but that will be extremely competitive.

Farrar has been in bad form almost all season, and with recent events he doesn't seem in great mental shape either.
He might not ride?

I think they have a decent squad to get a couple of riders in the top 20. And maybe even one in the top 10 again.

Yeah, but I kind of judge a riders form by their results (wins). And so far, I'm not impressed by what I see. Hesjedal got me psyched a bit during the Ardennes and at stage 4 at California and Vandevelde during Oman. But that excitement quickly dies off. I just really wish they'd do and show something themselves at other races besides the Tour. But given Vandevelde's past, it makes sense that he's taking it easy.

I think Garmin can do whatever they want to do. They shall also end up getting someone in the top 10 who has never been in there before too ( Martin or Tommy D ). All of them except for the Team Classification, Radioshack have that sewn up tight.

Farrar will be going for the green jersey, not Thor, if I am correct.

I too think they'll start out the tour with hopes of seeing Farrar with the green jersey i Paris.

For the past couple of months Thor has hinted that he wants to go for a few days in yellow rather than green. Hushovd has picked out a few stages where he wants to win and when he does he usually wins one of them (TDS stage yesterday, Vuelta stage last year, Arendberg in TDF'10, the Barcelona stage in TDF09 etc.) This year he's definitely going for stage 1 (and a few other of course) and Garmin really wants to win the TTT with Thor in yellow.

Thor said today in an interview after his win that Garmin will be looking to get Tyler in green.

That probably means we'll see Thor leading out Farrar on the flat stages, potentially a very powerful combination.

Unless there's a break, then it's - as the master tactician revealed - SPRINT FOR 3rd!

I hope JV finally gives Danielson a chance. Come on, JV. Just this once. He's actually having a decent season and all, better than Vande Velde to name just one rider who's more likely to be selected.

And if you select him, you know he'll podium. That'll be Garmin's goal.
I think the choice is between Dan Martin and Danielson. And if they're going on current form and consistency, Danielson wins by a country mile. He's also more useful in the TTT (read: not completely useless like Martin).

It depends what they want. If they want another guy for the TTT and a guy who can reliably fetch bottles for Hesjedal/Vande Velde in every mountain stage, it will be Danielson. If they want another guy who can win a stage, it will be Martin.

Danielson cannot be relied on to make it to the third week of the race, but he has been looking good this year. He could end up the best placed Garmin rider in Paris. Vande Velde will crash out as usual, and Hesjedal does not climb as well.

With the team they've got I guess they will go for green jersey, a top 10 in the GC and obviously stage wins (what team doesn't go for that?), but I wouldn't be surprised if they get none of those.
