A rider/team exceeds expectations in one single stage, and someone opens a thread in The Clinic. So predictable.

I guess that being sceptical about sporting performances in general is so common now that it has become part of human nature, and for very good reason.

What's the guess then? Saturday night BB? Full octane through the spring with easy riding the first 14 stages? Motorized bike?

I shouldn't make a guess based on only a result and a 3 second twitter video (which looks like it is in fast forward mode), but I'm going to say the team got some new bikes this season.

Translation: "I don't want to say it's motorized doping, buuuuut...it's motorized doping." Amirite?

Translation: I believe it is motorized doping (because it makes the most sense), but I know that this belief is just speculation, as opposed to a conclusion based on evidence.

Motorized doping makes no sense - it's a ridiculous hypothesis in this situation. There is so much talk about it at the moment, that it seems highly likely his bike would have been checked - or at least there would be a big risk of it being checked.

Also, if he used a motor - why not make sure he won? Why only go 6.2w/kg for 20 minutes - something that other riders could have done without a motor - taking the stage from him (which, indeed, Kruijswijk almost did).

He did win!

Maybe they were not expecting to win but hoping for top 10s.

Maybe they believe like the culture dictates that everyone has motors so they need to use them too.

Maybe 20 mins was max battery time!

No other riders did that except his team mate, Kruijswijk and Piti.

Gazprom stinks just as much as all other WT teams.

More Russian athletes found guilty of doping.....Russian athletes already comprehensively banned from many international sporting competitions.....but Gazprom is clean, right? Cycling doesn't have this sort of problem. Spare me.
So russians should be banned from all sports except russian roulette, is that correct?
Sagan, Contador, Rodriguez and Kristoff should definitely be banned as well. They're riding on Russian teams, so are disgracing the sport every time they win.

I'd like to see those teams banned, yes. Until the Russian sporting federations and anti-doping authorities get their *** together and stop getting caught.

Do you also think that Cannondale and BMC should be banned because the likes of Gatlin, most of the NFL / MLB / NBA and the likes of Armstrong, Hamilton and Landis dope or doped?

They'll stop getting caught if they use better doping and get up to date with modern technology and if everything isn't politically motivating in the world of sports these days. Otherwise they won't stop. Nobody with power and resources will stop doping. That's just a sad reality. It doesn't matter if it's Russia, or the USA, or anyone else. If Russian teams are taken out of the UCI Pro Tour, you really think cycling will become clean all of a sudden? If they ban the Russian teams, they'll have to ban all the teams that have managers, technicians, riders that were affiliated with others with a doping past. If that ever happens, there won't be a pro tour anymore.
