I am not up on the topic. But realise there is a necessity to use viruses as vectors to insert genes, which makes it very dangerous. I think there are methods, much safer of activating or over expressing a certain gene people may already posses.

Yes, there are other, non-viral vectors in development now, in particular, encapsulating the gene in a cell-like structure.

I heard whispers of UK cycling pursuing gene advancements... Don't know if it was apocryphal.

Dont really need the gene advantage when the tried and true testo, growth, and erythropoietin does the job. Besides, when someone is Knighted, don't they get a pass on a small non-negative or two? Surely. Comes with a few Community Chest passes.

Gene doping sounds like a great thing, if it makes the patient healthier. Sporting ethics are just going to have to play catch-up.

Gene Doping

Interview with Dr Olivier Rabin, WADA Science Director.

Does pretty well right up until the end, and the Gene doping box (presumably inserted by an editor) mistakenly describes EPO as a gene.
