WADA prez Witold Banka doing a victory lap -
https://www.bbc.com/sport/articles/cx21k881djlo
More than 300 sanctions have been handed to Russian athletes following the seizure of Moscow laboratory data in 2019, the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) says.

The body has now concluded its investigation, dubbed Operation Lims, with 291 athletes sanctioned - and 302 sanctions imposed.

Competitors from 22 sports have been punished by 23 different anti-doping organisations, with weightlifting (107 athletes) and athletics (93) the most frequently sanctioned.

Eleven athletes have received sanctions for multiple violations, while four further cases have been charged but not resolved, with the final judgement still awaited.

An Italian amateur cyclist tests positive for EPO for a second time in the latest doping scandal to rock gran fondo racing.
https://velo.outsideonline.com/news/epo-bust-gran-fondo-doping-questions-amateur/
Felice Giangregorio, 38, is provisionally suspended after testing positive for recombinant erythropoietin (EPO), Italian anti-doping authorities confirmed.

The case is significant because Giangregorio, a top performer on the Italian circuit, previously served a four-year ban after a positive test in October 2019, also for EPO. The story was first reported on Gran Fondo Daily.

It is the latest doping scandal to hit the thriving amateur racing scene.

I suppose it had to happen - drug tests for MyWhoosh cyclists
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...clists-random-drug-tests-compete-mywhoosh-app
First came the boom in virtual cycling, with thousands of people from across the globe competing against each other. Then came cash prizes. Now one major online platform has taken the next logical step by launching anti-doping testing for e-racers.

MyWhoosh, which hosts the UCI Esports World Championships, has told the Guardian that the top riders in its weekly Sunday Race Club competition will now face random drug tests after they compete.

hope this won't harm Danilo Celano's clean image, now that he just started to dominate the Italian Granfondo scene

I assume that the stories of thyroid medicine taking were related in someway to the use of peptides.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...-doping-performance-enhancing-drugs-questions
Levothyroxine isn't banned, you don't even need a TUE to use it and it's dirt cheap. Granted it' not a miracle drug, it can help with weight loss while retaining muscle mass and it's stimulating, but getting the right dosage can be tricky, too much and you end up with nasty side effects (overstimulation, heat intolerance, cardiac palpitations, muscle loss,... it can be life threatening if you go too far) and the window is rather narrow.

Get 'em while their young and ....
The Youth Olympic Games (maximum age 18) in Dakar this Autumn and the ITA are on the ball!
Ahead of Dakar 2026, athletes are also encouraged to complete the “Mastering Your Sporting Journey” on Athlete365. ... This course helps young athletes develop the right mindset and essential knowledge in areas such as mental health, safeguarding, prevention of competition manipulation, and anti-doping.
If there's a brave journalist out there, looking for a good story, then the whole kiddies doping for sports contracts, is worth investigation.

It's almost as though bike manufacturers have tried to make wheels rotate with minimal frictional resistance.
Certainly, but how does it spin faster after faling, than when you were still pedalling(downhill)? Surely looks weird and suspicious to my eye. The few times i have been unfortunate enough to fall downhill or flat, my backwheel hasn't been spinning like that🤔it has just stopped like it should have. Off course my bike is not WT-level, but it still is a very nice(expensive) roadbike. I just think we are witnessing total enhanced games unfold before our eyes. The unthinkable records from EPO-era broken, Vinge vs Teddy etc. feels like who wins is the one who pushes the boundaries the furthest. That is one reason I hate Mauro&Co, they have unlimited state owned funding and no morals, they have made the hoax so big, that the socialmedia generation just accepts it, no matter how ridicilous it seems.

Why I just don't stop watching then? Well at least now I have a lovely family and it is the most important thing in the world. But also pro cycling has been my(nowadays freetime) passion for almost 30 years, so it is not easy. Still i watch at least the highlights, but have noticed that the races were the biggest hoax participates, I only watch for laughs or replays. PR was for me and I know for MANY others like a breath of fresh air.

Is there no football thread?

Vitinha has gone from being mediocre to the best in the world.
He was a player who used to get winded, he couldn't physically handle the matches, now he's a beast. It wasn't a tactical change, but a physical one.

So much for the idea that physical attributes don't matter in football. This player is a great example

Did not know that WADA get to be on the drug busts! Have they got the big coats with WADA in yellow like the FBI, I wonder.
https://www.europol.europa.eu/media...ted-hit-against-pharmaceutical-crime-networks
Between April and November 2025, law enforcement, judicial, customs, medical and anti-doping authorities from 30 countries joined forces in Operation SHIELD VI. Europol coordinated this global effort targeting the trafficking of counterfeit and misused medicines, as well as illicit doping substances and food supplements. As in the previous operations, the 2025 edition was supported by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), Frontex, INTERPOL, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and national medicine agencies.

Two Caja Rural riders in the top 10 on a Dauphiné mountain-top finish, just before their first Tour de France? Lovely stuff.

Of course, half the field is sick, injured, or missing, and the remaining field falls off a cliff after the first handful of riders. Still, that is some remarkably well-timed climbing form. Very considerate of it to appear exactly now.
