I am a serving soldier and moving to Germany. The area i'm going to is Bergan and i'm trying to look for a local cycling club. I've tried to look in to German websites, but with limited knowledge of the language i am struggling. The intent is to pick up the lingo and train with the locals. Is there anyone who could point me in the right direction?

The military offers lots of classes. You can also go to volkshochshule and learn lots. There are lots of clubs so don't worry until you get there about the right fit. You will find a club 5 minutes after you go to the local bike shop.Northern Germany is pretty strange there are some pretty decent climbs but the real eye opener is how hard racing can be on flat ground, with nasty crosswinds and single file nowhere to hide echelons. I have never been to Bergen but I have been to Munster which appears to be pretty close. Depending how old you are it can be heaven, the place is crawling with college students, that like to dance, drink and race bikes. Enjoy.

It is another "Münster", not the student town.

@Mitch: You might also post at http://www.mtb-news.de/forum/ , there are all kinds of cyclists there, not just "MTB'ler".
One random club I found withtout much trouble was http://esv-fortuna-celle.de/radsport/index.html , click "Saisonplanung 12" and it seems that there are a LOT of cycling activities in the area!
But the tip to ask at a local shop is the best idea, I second that.

Hi, i couldn't find a cycling club in Bergen but there seems to bee one in Celle which is the city right next to Bergen.

That's a list of all cycling clubs in lower Saxonia. But i think the Celle one looks promising. But just tell me if you are favoring another one and want to get in contact with them or anything. I can translate E-Mails for example if you need to. Feel free to ask me all the time.

Cheers for that everyone, i think Celle is sounding the best, good tip on the bike shop as well. I'm sure after a few giggles, they will understand my bad German.
