Get Kempy a contract

A strong rider David Kemp has not got a contract for 2011. He deserves and is good enough to be on a pro team. On twitter people are getting support up for David by retweeting #getkempya contract. I am not a great story teller but these two articles should explain a fair bit about the guy.

"David Kemp. No Contract? You Kidding Me?" - CyclingTips

Riders in limbo after team collapse

2nd article is really about Kempy & pegasus as David use to ride there but doesn't have a contract with them for next year.

Made this thread to make people aware of the situation and get some support and see if there is a spot for him. Nice guy...

Meh, this is nonsense. Looking at his results I would say that there are probably hundreds of riders that are more deserving of a pro contract than that guy.

Let me list a few:

Christoffer Stevenson
Michael Stevenson
Alexander Wetterhall
Johan Lindgren
Christer Rake
Roy Hegreberg

And I'm sure you can find a similar list for just about any of the top 25 countries in the world.

So what this means is, as he's not one of the guys that were called up from FlyV to Pegasus, he doesn't have a contract for FlyV, not Pegasus.

this is hardly news worthy of it's own thread. I know we are in the off season and there is no racing at the moment, but seriously?

There are countless of riders, many with better results and many more with similar results around the world who are without a ride for next season and who are probably considered worthy of a contract. It's unfortunate, but it is just the reality of the sport. Cycling is not alone, the number of footballers who get released by their clubs each year across Europe totals over 1000. It's the nature of team sports.

Unfortunate for the guy, certainly, but he is not alone, and certainly not worth his won thread. Just my opinion.

"Desperate to succeed at his chosen career, he recently split with his wife of two years so that he was free to travel - a decision about which he has obvious misgivings."

Umm.... ya, about that... you see, babe... it was just, well... I mean, sometimes I... maybe we... don't you think.... OK, I'll just say it.... PLEASE TAKE ME BACK!

to be fair to acf for once according to cq (which you like ;)) Kemp had a better season last year than all of those. Not that CQ is the be all end all i know.

But yes i do wonder whether this would have a thread if Kemp wasnt Australian. Ok ive stopped now. It didnt take me long to figure out the answer.

Only if you look at the numbers which is misleading. He only had results in three races all year long. But he just happened to get lots of points for his second place in the Autralian RR champs. If you look at what they all actually rode both this year and in previous years then all the guys I mentioned have loads more experience and results than Kemp does.

You are right. Kemp got lots of points for the Australian road race but the field was unremarkable

Dominik Roels hasn't got a pro contract for next year, and is more proven. Gustavo César Veloso hasn't got a pro contract for next year, and he's won the Volta a Catalunya outright and a mountain stage of the Vuelta a España.

There's a whole bunch of talented riders in Portugal going team-free too, since the Liberty Seguros debacle and with funding being scaled back meaning the other teams are reducing their numbers or, in Loulé's case, disappearing entirely.

David Kemp is a good rider with potential, for sure, but he's hardly on his own, and there are riders with equal or better CVs in the same boat.

If you're talking about Kemp, same thing can be said about Pat Shaw. Won races this year, won the NRS and won the Scody Cup and CW treated him like garbage.

and yet hires Zajicek

Mate, he has little money, thinking about riding for nothing, thinking about selling some investments so he can do that, his wife left him because he wanted to pursue a cycling career and he wasn't given a contract from his team of which he stayed on with because he thought they were going to go into the pro ranks with him in that team.

Kinda different. You don't have to be so aggressive towards me and can show some respect to me by saying in a respectful way.

Maybe you should come up with a new thread then. Agreed, with no racing, and my work slowing down in the lead up to Xmas, I will need some entertainment to fill the work day next week, so come up with some interesting new threads to help fill my day.

Maybe a 'readers rides' thread, if there isn't already one. I'd like to see who rides what. And I hope ACF rides a BMC!!!!

I feel sorry for the guy. He's young. Offer himself out there. F-the-wife. Use that as inspiration. Lets bring cycling back to it origins. Passion. There's still plenty houses in Europe that are willing to board racing cyclists. Enough of the corparate route to stardom. Thats failed. Back to grass roots theory.

One and the same. FlyV is the sponsor. Pegasus (racing or sport) is the company that owns the team. I thought you would have known that?
