gilbertador said:Fact is Rujano can easily lose time at random moments
In 2005 he lost 34 on stage 2 with a short uphill finish 43 similarly on stage 4 and another 19 on 5 and then 2 minutes 19 on the first mountain stage he then gained 3:30 in a breakaway and that was in his best performance. 2011 is a similar story albeit slightly improved, Rujano lost 5 minutes on the Strade Bianchi and got thrown out of the back on macugnaga for 2:30 and 23 seconds on another sprint stage
Add to the fact he will lose 30 in the prologue and a minute in the final tt to scarponi and Kreuzinger and you can only conclude that he isnt really a realistic contender, he is simply very inconsistent. In all of the flat stages Rujano rarely finished in the top 80 or 100 even which goes to show that he is always vulnerable to lose time.
He could win, but there are plenty of people more likely, he could easily end up 30th as well he is massively over hyped with regards to GC and is a slightly up market Piepoli with all due respect
I'm going to save this quote for after the giro
