lampre with a VERY bad team for the ttt

Damiano Cunego en Michele Scarponi als kopmannen. De twee zullen worden ondersteund door Przemyslaw Niemiec, Matteo Bono, Adriano Malori, Daniele Pietropolli, Daniele Righi, Alessandro Spezialetti en Diego Ulissi.

I don't think it's much worse than last year's team, and they didn't do that bad (6th place, losing 24 seconds to HTC). Losing Hondo and Petacchi is a handicap but adding Malori is a huge advantage in general.

They will suffer with the length, that's for sure, but they won't lose too much time to most teams with GC contenders (except Sky, if you don't count Pinotti as a GC contender)

Sky pretty much as predicted.

I worry how Swift, Kennaugh, and Thomas to a lesser extent, are going to handle the first week.

Flecha has climbed really well the last two years. If it's needed he'll be in the top group on some hard mountains a lot longer than you'd expect.

How Kennaugh (and Thomas) will be going by the time the mountains come around I really have no idea.

indeed, it isn't overly necessary to send a good climbing team to the giro as the italian teams are always strong enougn and always will control the race. even last year when no longer being in contention for the win, lampre and liqui were still doing it

Didn't Sky say ages ago that they wouldn't be going for the GC at the Giro, but stage wins.

Henao and Uran both have the potential to nab a mountain stage, then Cav obviously in the flat ones.

Flecha, Stannard and Bernie for the odd breakaway (not that I seriously expect Bernie to be more than a bikes length away from Cav,but he has the ability to do it)

those are tour climbs. this is the giro. flecha may be in the last 40 but that's nothing to write home about really. kennaugh we have to see.
