incredible. they dropped him at the last moment because of a rider in asturias. may unzue die a rotten death for this and quintana leave as soon as possible

senor unzue's logic is correct though.he says all the mountains put at the end of three weeks can do bad things to a youngster's body.he will prepare for dauphine

that is total bs. quintana is from boyaca. he is a born gt rider. he recuperates incredibly. name me one colombian that isn't great over 3 weeks and especially from boyaca. he is ready for it too. I can only imagine he will be very mad now and want to leave the team unless he is allowed to ride the tour or vuelta

Exactly. It seems they told him to go and prepare for the Giro for a month, then when he came back decided he could do Vuelta a Madrid and Tour of Picardie instead. I wouldn't mind if I thought he might ride the Vuelta instead, but I doubt it. Still, at least it's better than the way Lampre appear to be treating Anacona.

lampre aren't treating anacona bad at all. anacona simply can;'t get a visum

Any evidence of that? Would be odd as he spent the last two seasons in Italy. Also it's usually reported on RMC when Colombian riders have visa problems.

it's the truth. I heard it from a friend who knows the situation. you think lampre would be as stupid to let him stay in colombia for 5 months?

What do you guys think about the chance of Hesjedal and Lagutin? I can see a top15 for both of them, but they are strong enough for a top10?

Possibly in this field. Top 10 would be the max they could achieve though.

Hesjedal says himself he thinks he can top 10, I suppose this is a weak enough field and he has the best chance he is likely to get.

I'll be interested to see where Uran finishes

I really hope Uran recovered from his very nasty fall at FW to be good in early stages, somehow doubt it, but we'll see.

Hesjedal should have a decent shot of ending up in the top ten. He has shown pretty good form this spring and is targeting this race. And he has good recovery/endurance for a three-week race: last year in the Tour, even when he was not in great form, he did better as the race went on.

He got a top-10 in the Tour, so he can sure as hell get a top-10 in the Giro. He seems to recover well, I think it's a course that could suit him.

I'll be cheering for Lagutin, but anyone knows his condition? Hasn't looked that great since Vuelta a Andalucia

he is neither a great climber nor a good timetrialist, I still have no clue how he managed to get 7th at the Tour. In my eyes he is still best fitted to hilly races, like Amstel Gold or maybe Liège...but yeah, maybe he will end up in the Top 10

What about JRod? He can't TT to save his life and will he be able to hang in there on the really long, steep climbs? Top 5? This Giro is so open and hard to predict a thing in it!

Hesjedal got stronger as the Tour progressed. He finished just in/outside the top 10 in the first mountain stages.
But in the last stages he managed a top 5 on the Tourmalet (i think? one of the last climb finishes)... without any breakaway

Only possible thing that you can call "Omg breakaway" on was the stage to arenberg he was in the break there and finished in the first group.

yes, maybe I have expresse myself inartfully, I know how it happened, but it's just something I didn't expect regarding his abilities. He must have been in perfect shape under optimal circumstances, it's nothing I see him replicate again and again. But he may prove me wrong this Giro, he worked with regard to this goal since half a year or so, so he should do okay. The first two weeks offer some good opportunities for him to catch bonus seconds (or even a stage win) and he just may hang on till the finish.

he is a really amazing rider. I think in 2005 or 2006 with phonak he was very strong in the vuelta until he crashed out. but he seems very inconsistant. he rode with rabo u23 and was a great talent from mtb really

yes, he is an amazing rider, I like his style, but when he crashed out of the Vuelta in 2006 he was 17th in GC, two minutes behind Devolder, and it's not like he was 20 or so at that time. Okay, it was just his second GT, but anyway.

It would not be a surprise if he delivers a top 10, but I'd neither be shocked if he loses 15 minutes on the Stelvio

Aside from his great 2010 performance he came 9th i think on Alpe last year just behind the Schlecks Evans group, so I can definately see him hold on well in the mountains.
