Well, I really don't think Zonc to be in.
I'd be pleased to see the Stelvio, though it's used very rarely (a lot of issues)

That Rifugio Calvanico climb is utterly insane.
Agreed :D
There's to say that climb is in south Italy, so it'll probly be climbed early in the race. It could definitely be the first MTF.

and yes i think it is time for individual time trial back in grand tours.
so in giro 2012:
stage 8:45 km flat ITT
stage 21:50 km hilly ITT

One of those 30km + mounatin time trials they used to have in the 90es would be nice.
The 2009 ITT was good enough, for that matter

Agreed.

A Gavia, Stelvio, Kleinboden (a climb that starts from Gomagoi village) - stage would be utterly ridiculous, BTW.

Rifugio Calvanico looks awesome.

I want to see some of the classic Giro climbs back in next year. Mortirolo, Stelvio, Alpe di Pampeago, Marmolada, Gavia, Tre Cime Di Lavaredo.......

I would hate to ride up it. Also bring back the Kronplatz.

EDIT: I hope they get ride of the TTT and the final stage TT, give it a rest for a year or two IMO.

Why not a stage with Stelvio - Mortirolo - Gavia then?:D

well zomegnan did say they will use a new 'unknown' climb in the giro 2012 and it would be a hard one.

I definitely want to see Gavia and Mortirolo in the same stage (did it some years ago I think?). Not sure how you would design the stage though. Trivigno was a tough climb before Mortirolo last year so it would be good if they could include that too.

They did it in 2006 and in 2008 (not sure about this one)
Difficult to include Trivigno too, unless they do a strange long loop

Regarding Alpe d'Huez I voted "not that awesome compared to other italian climbs" which definitely is true solely based on difficulty, but on the other hand I also think it's "great news" as the Alpe is perhaps the best knows climb and could help promote the Giro quite a bit outside Italy I think.

I too agree that Monte Zoncolan should be omitted next year. Don't get me wrong, I think it's an awesome mountain, but in my opinion it would start losing some of it's mythical status if they used it every year.

Oh and since I'm danish I of course can't wait till next years start in Denmark! :D

A few more facts:

Stage 1 will be an ITT with a distance between 7 and 12 kilometers.
Stage 2 and 3 will be between 180 and 195 kilometers each.

The races starts may 5th and the first rest day will be may 8th as they are transfering to Italy.

For 2011 it was rumoured this amazing stage
findorelevation2php.png

The climbs are Passo Mt. Giovo, Passo Pennes, Auna di Sopra, Passo delle Erbe, Passo Furcia, Riomolino. 240 Km (!)
It would be nice if they'll put it in 2012:)
