I would agree that Sky have taken the wrong training approach with a few of their riders and it hasn't turned out well. So I hope the same thing will not happen with Dombrowski, I think we'll have to wait and se to know for sure.

True.It looks like their magic only has an effect only on british riders:eek:

Dombrowski is as killed as Henao was last year, their training is not good for everyone ,in fact its a complete fail for young riders

They've pretty much admitted this themselves. In 2013 they put everyone on the same training regime that worked so well for the ''Tenerife Four'' in 2012 (Wiggins, Froome, Porte and Rogers). Obviously it was too much for some of the younger riders although from what I've heard Henao personally likes to do the hard training anyway. I imagine this year he'll get a bit of a break after the Ardennes classics and can therefore take his time to build up again for the Dauphine/Tour block of racing.

problem is sky hasn't changed anything this year. the training camps are still the same.

Sky better get serious about the Giro and back Porte with a race winning team. If they send 2nd rated climbers with Porte, you might be right about the projection.

The possible sky giro teams being suggested by different folk are great teams, just missing is one super dom. IMHO those teams is good enough to deliver Porte to the base of the final climb each day even if he's wearing pink, and then it's up to Porte. The obvious problem is if Quintana goes early, if he MOvistar run a train up 90% of the climb then there's no issue, but if they go faster and run out after only 20% of a climb then Porte could well be isolated against Quintana...personally I would want to avoid that. If Quintana goes on his own early, then again having a super dom to keep you close until you punch back would be really handy.
For all of this and the luxury of choice Sky have, if they don't put someone like Henao, Nieve, or Kennaugh in the team I'd question just what Sky are expecting of Porte. I'd honestly think that it means they want him to ride consistently prepping for the Tour, providing a name for news reporters to report on no matter how he's doing and has next to nothing to do with seeing how Porte goes leading a team. Given the course Porte could stay in the mix easily up till the TT, move into pink in the TT and then ride conservatively or even pull out.

Brailsford and Kerrison have both said in recent interviews that they're looking to have the team peak later in the season this year and not kill the riders in the December and January training camps.

Agree in principle with this.

Yeah, Nieve should probably go as Porte's mountain goat, but it's been clear since the Tour last year that Brailsford won't be taking any chances with the Tour team this year.

I'd probably go with Kennaugh. It's a chance to allow him a ride for a result by riding as Porte did for Froome last year without pressure to back up in France. Nieve is proven and has more experience in a number of different types of stages especially all day tough ones, which is Sky's only vulnerability, and I think he's too valuable to have out of form for the Tour.

Although I think they will put very strong climbing domestiques in the Tour, I think Stage 13 last year and the cobbled stage this year will force Brailsford's hand into having strong flat doms too.

Boasson Hagen is not in the selection for the Tour de France. And if Sky you decide to take in the Giro d'Italia to help Porte? Do not forget that there is a Team time trial, and other stages that would be important.

Really? That's interesting. He was pretty disappointing in the Tour last year and then managed to crash out when the team was already weak by trying to contest a sprint that he was never going to win in a million years.

I'd imagine he will ride the Giro but I think it's safe to say that EBH won't be with Sky next year. I also think this improves Eisel's chances of making the Tour squad although I'm not 100% sure they'd see a need for both him and Stannard. I think they should definitely take him though because he adds a lot of ''intangibles'' that can't be measured in watts per kilos.

Quintana + 8 from this list

The squad will choose eight riders from Italians Adriano Malori and Eros Capecchi, Polish climber Sylwester Szmyd, Costa Rica's Andrey Amador and Spaniards Fran Ventoso, Pablo Lastras, Igor Antón, Jonathan Castroviejo, Gorka Izagirre and José Herrada.

Negaron visa a Jarlinson Pantano, Carlos Julián Quintero y Miguel Ángel Rubiano para la Gran Bretaña. Problema para el Team Colombia y Giro.

Pantano, Quintero and Rubiano have had their visa requests to Britain denied so their Giro participation is in doubt.

That's just your opinion though, right? Not sure I'd use that on the first page, Eshnar.

For one thing, Sebastian Henao is definitely in the pre-selection and again I'm pretty sure they want to hold back a lot of fresh options for the Tour (so Nieve and possibly Lopez won't be riding the Giro).

I'm surprised there's only one name mentioned for Belkin in the opening post. I'm pretty sure I've seen their Giro team somewhere in dutch media. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to find it anymore. :( Maybe someone else on here knows where to find it?
