This is a just mid mountains stage where the results are sure to be overstated. Even the Tour would stop short of calling that final hill a Cat 1. Still, a nice 50 pts for the winner in the KOM comp. Maybe the serious stage hunters will wait for Saturday although they may regret that. My guess is fairly weak break goes all the way.

That just isn't true, they designated the Orcières-Merlette MTF a cat. 1 in 2020 and that one is easier for sure. As evidenced by the first 16 riders finishing together, which this stage should be nowhere close to.

I don’t think UAE want to bring the break back and Bora will be recovering since Tratnik will be recovering and I think they had another rider down. If the Italian teams and Astana don’t load up in the break they will have a big missed opportunity.
