Martin's tatics were questionable. He just rode on the front giving them a leadout wasting his energy. He was the strongest and was putting the rest into difficulty.

Martin is a natural climber.

Roche is a all rounder/ puncheor/ Voeckler type rider, who because of his family tries to be a climber. Its working and he was amazing in the Vuelta, but i think Danny boy has a natural edge.

Had he chosen British nationality i think Sky would have signed him and would have had their (possible) British tdf contender.

Either way, Martin is definitely strong, although he wasn't particularly consistent in the Giro this year. Also, what with his frame being as small as it is, I don't really see him ever being a particularly capable TTer, which will always be a major handicap.

I'd say it's just another Italian one-day race. Nice, but not as important as Emilia, Piamonte or Tre Valli.
