so, scarponi was second, and thereby secures a spot in the TdF for Androni? Can anyone confirm that this is true? Great news, in my book..

In all three tours, according to the Sept 08 agreement, but I thought that had been ditched when they said all 18 WT teams were obliged to ride in all WT races (incl the GTs)

cbf! the season is over and i can't wait for next year.

it is not good to end on such a low note to a season with an average race. Lets go to a velodrome and watch riders race 1000 laps of that!

technically the season starts in a couple of weeks. Tour down under is the third race of the UCI calander

I don't see how this was so boring? Ok, not the best race this year, but still pretty good, I think. Maybe i just have lower expectations than others.

About androni, I've given up trying to grasp the ever-changing rules of the UCI, but if Androni is now qualified for the Tour de France, this is a good day. (The giro they'll do anyway. Not sure I'd want to see them in the vuelta as well, though, if it's at the expense of a spanish team. )

Not going to be that many Spanish teams left now that Xacobeo are going.

There's Andalucía-Caja Granada (ProConti), Caja Rural (going up to PC?).. erm Orbea (Continental). Plus Euskaltel, Telefonica and Geox (Italian or Spanish?) in the World Tour.

Any new ones springing up for 2011?

Well, personally I don't want to see Androni at the Tour. They won't have a strong enough squad to be competitive both at the Giro and at the Tour.

Also, Intxausti 9th? Totally didn't see that coming.

I didn't see a minute of the race. But from what I;ve read here, TGBM appearently attacked, destroyed them all, and then completely collapsed.

And Gilbert won by bad luck for Nibali first and then Scarponi.

Good summary: you could write for CN!
but you really missed an exceptional TGBM attack - and the atmos here while it lasted was amazing to witness - such a welcome unexpected end-of-season gift for the faithful.

Thing to remember with sky is for a lot of riders the end of season was screwed up by the vuelta withdrawal. Riders that planned to be on form left the vuelta etc. Gerrans as already said it messed up his worlds preparation. I think they did fine, someone in the breakaway, and had 3(?) riders finish out of a very small finishing feild

Too bad Nibs crashed. It would have been fun to see he and Gilbert fight it out for the win.

What was the temperature out there?

In Como where I was it was around 14 degrees I think, but raining the whole day as you could see. In Milano at the start it was around 12 with a little bit of sun.

There was no significant wind in both cities.

Oh by the way I was there and I saw the riders coming over the line. They were all completely wasted. So the easy talk about the riders sitting up and not bothering is pure BS.

You cant take it easy for 260km. I watched in HD and they all looked completely f-rked.

Well done for getting out on the road.
