this might end up being very anti climatic if astana catches them and nothing happens on the final climb.

They will not catch the group before the final climb. If they will cath them, it will be in the last km's.

The gap is coming so fast. 4 minutes in 20km....
They got 2minutes with 21km to go.... Do the math. They might catch them before the final climb :(

Spectacular scenery!
It really does look like a stunning place to cycle

Superb !!!!!. Bit different to that shity Tour of California !

Well, it only because the ToC organizers are totally stupid. Californai has some of the most stunning scenery that you can just imagine. Unfortunately they always choose those lame "sponsor cities" and dont care about the scenery

Agreed.................

These time gaps are awful. For a while there the time gaps was coming down by more than a second every second. I'm no physics expert but I think that means the breakaway had turned around and were riding backwards. If so that's very bad tactics.

I can't believe the groups will come together after such a course of the events.
Astana really strong.

So, I'll bang on this drum one last time (and I'm not being hyperbolic): what a terrible, atrocious, god-awful Ettix-Quickstep team for Uran. Sky, Tinkoff and Astana all have riders up the road and all of them but Tinkoff have multiple riders within the select group. Again, all of them but Sky gained time on EQS in the TTT. Meanwhile Uran is all alone and we're not even into the real mountains. Absolutely brutal. Forget winning, if Uran podiums it would be a monumental achievement.

Ettix-Quickstep always focused on sprinters and one day races. Especially the northern classics.

Thats kind of the point. Astana has riders at the front in monster shape. Why not see what happen and save energy for tommorow? Surely now Sky and Rogers would have to chase.. and if not and the group wins by 4 minutes.....
they still hold all the cards with so many good climbers in great shape and with TInkoff being so weak

Yeah, Astana could have monstered the stage tomorrow. They still might. They are strong.
