Imo if Dumoulin feeling good today... he should try and be a part of an ambush on Yates today or at least try and isolate Yates early.

My feeling is the standings after the ITT wont be enough unless Yates does horribly and then fades in the last week.
Right now it's not anymore everyone vs Dumoulin to get time before the TT

It should be everyone vs Yates and Dumoulin. Yates in general, because he's far ahead of everyone else. And Dumoulin for the TT.
So besides Dumo they need to drop Yates somewhere

Conti and De Marchi bridges up to the three in the lead.

Andreetta, Henao and Nieve are also in the lead!

Only Visconti and De Marchi up ahead, the rest has been caught. 25km have been ridden.

Conti bridges up to the duo.

Valerio Conti (UAE Team Emirates), Alessandro De Marchi (BMC) and Giovanni Visconti (Bahrain - Merida) have 15'' on a group inbetween and 24'' on the bunch.

Dupont, Cattaneo and Luis Leon Sanchez are chasing the three leaders, while another seven riders chase behind them.

Dumoulin to show up in his ITT rainbow, bike and helmet, he will ITT the stage. But Pinot attacks, atop the first climb he has a two-minute advantage. He drops his mask! It was Reichenbach! Kirby was right all along! And Tom decides to go solo. Pinot (dressed as Reichenbach) pulls his favorite fishing pole and hooks up TD's saddle. Pozzo reacts, weaves spaghetti and lassoes Pinot. The trio takes a massive lead. Unbeknownst to them, Lopez had carb loaded with the best frijoles he could get and rockets his way back. But Poels and Froome are riding a tandem and closing in fast! Betancur gets 5 bags at the feeding station, rolls down the climb in hot pursuit. Viviani has been sprinting for over 100 km and finally gives up. Carapaz goes from turtle to hare and he's fast: is it too little, too late? Bilbao is athletic but he's fading, but the real is no Madrid: Contador is nowhere to be seen. Yates is coming out of nowhere, just had a Gatorade. Yates+sugar=alcohol, Simon gets pulled over and charged with DUI. His Giro dreams are over. Pozzo hears through his ear-piece that the mafia had a bet on Aru to be the top Italian in the race: his family is being kept hostage...he slows down. It's Pinot vs. Dumoulin with 1.1 km to go. And Tom has to stop to relieve himself, uses the kite as toilet paper. Solo win for Tibopino!!!
How many bootles of Pinot Grigio did you swallow????

Well, I was just speaking from Dumoulin perspective. If he feels good today it is a good day to take time on Yates with having tomorrow to recover before ITT.

Visconti, Conti, De Marchi (30km)

+13'' Dupont, Luis Leon Sanchez and Cattaneo

+23'' Peloton (only 50 riders big!)

Froome will surely attack, so we're guaranteed to have GC action on terrain that will certainly facilitate it
I don't think so, but if yes - on last descent.

Sounds like an absolutely insane racing day, I sadly enough will only be able to watch from 15.45... If my bus arrives on time and catches the train at 15.00!

Otherwise I might be forced to watch out for a penny arcade near the station. :D

The beauty of this stage (at least potentially), is that there is very rewarding terrain for a longer range attack. I hope we see it. Not sure though, coming off of yesterday's effort. They may just all limp in roughly together.

Not yet exciting, just some usual suspects in a small break, peloton happy.

Every mountain stage should start with this kind of terrain. Perfect for breakaway wars.
