Congratulations to Mads Pedersen for winning the opening stage.

Lidl-Trek was really dominating the climbs and Pedersen always very confident, got some revenge for PR puncture, on where he couldn't show the good form he was building up during the spring. Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe rather superb in term of positioning and keeping Rogla out of the trouble. Landa with a crash and ended up servery injured, as such this is a bad day for all true cycling fans out there.

But the TT tomorrow isn't exactly suited for Mads. Ala in his prime would've scorched it.

I think it suits him very well.

It's a city cirquit with a lot of corners and road furniture, a lot of stop and go, and the climb suits him quite well too - hard enough to break the rythm of the TT specialists and too easy for the GC riders to make a big difference.

It's a slim chance he can retain the jersey, but it is not outside the realm of possibility.

Btw Bruyneel picked Vacek as his top favourite for the win.

Personally I think McNulty will take it - and take the jersey as well, but I think the top 5 will be inside 15-20 seconds.

Recovery for the T11 vertebrae takes between 8 -12 weeks.
And once he recovers, he has to return to training.

It's impossible for him to do the Tour. With that timeframe, it means he'll be able to start training when the Tour starts.
I didn't know he suffered that much. I retract my case then. He won't race TdF.

Yes but he also rode smart and didn't fuel the fire for kilometers. Doesn't make attacking in the break for kilometers before the KOM in the middle of the stage a smart strategy. Tonelli also didn't succeed with it at al. So, I don't know, does not seem clever to me.
I mean not everyone can just sit in and win the kom sprint. Only one person gets to win. Doesn't mean everyone else is an idiot

Gee got caught behind Frigo who crashed in front of him apparently
I've seen nothing to suggest that, source?

I won't listen, but that was according to Spencer (the youtube generated transcript is at least decent enough)?
Really I could've sworn it was Bruyneel, who is usually accurate with this sort of thing.

Edit: Yes, he said he 'read it somewhere'. Now to figure out where.
