As much I like the look of the Swiss stage, I'm really not sure if having high passes in Switzerland is a great idea after the fiasco of the Col du Grand-Saint-Bernard in 2023 and Passo Forcola di Livigno in 2024.
Also, I refuse the believe that the Cima Coppi would be outside Italy.

The Swiss won't open any passes earlier for the Giro unless RCS or the stage finish town pays for it, it's as simple as that.

At this point we should have 7/8 mountain stages

1 = Blockhaus and an appenninic stage probably in Emilia
2 = Aosta/Pila and Verbania
3 = Cari Madonna di Campiglio Piani di Pezze and Piancavallo.

They could do Lukmanier, Oberalp and San Gottardo (and not Furka and Nufenen). That would bring them to an altitude where Giau or an other Dolomite climb would be Cima Coppi.

Verbania, what would they do in that area? Mottarone?

I suppose they would climb Monte Ologno like in 2015. A very hard climb and also a very technical descent probably and before maybe Mottarone. Monte Ologno is about 30km far from the town of Verbania. Speaking about Cima Coppi I remember that in the past they put it out of Italy like Izoard or Grosslockner. At this point Giau or Nufenpass will be the Cima Coppi.

Grossglockner was 1971 and Izoard 1982 as far as I can see. That is a long time since that.....

About Verbania. Any clues on where this stage would start? And if they approach from south or north, probably from Switzerland if the latter is the case.

That's why he, and his team kept racing after Evenepoel at Superdévoluy.

5min really just isn't enough, but keep thinking that. I'm looking forward to a Giro with both of them, will be more exciting than a TDF with all 3 of them.
That's why I said "most of the Tour"

According to the rumours from South and the stage probably will start from Borgomanero
