2023 was also a weak version after Evenepoel dropped out with covid. Did you see how hard Roglic had it to win after his crash? Tells you enough.

Maybe @Peyresourde could confirm with his analysis if the Giro 2023 was weak performance wise
Pure W/kg wise it was terrible outside of Monte Bondone, but directly comparing different GTs like that gets pretty terrible.

Main reason I think it's terrible is as simple as different stages within the same race, with the same riders on the same form having such a huge variance no matter what index you use.

Here's to hoping he doesn't top 5 a single stage.

Also, leaving by stage 10 is misleading, stage 7-9 are all mountain/murito stages and stage 10 is the long TT.

He's gonna *** off after 6 days
And still gets payed seven figures for milking cows and bulls nine months per year...

Lotto have a long history with this, both Ewan and Greipel used to do the same.
And I've always hated it.

It's appropriate he's named "De Lie" as implying he might stay for 9 stages when his last chance is half a week earlier is just trying to limit how dumb it sounds.

De Lie using the Giro to get some training in for Tour de Wallonie and Copenhegan sprint is incredible work

ive always respected the sprinters who cling on for dear life through the mountains so they have one last chance on the champs d'elysee or equivalent.

For the first time ever there will be a maltese and an uruguayan. Andrea Mifsud (Polti) and Guillermo Tomas Silva (Astana). Surprisingly some Italian riders won't race like Germani Conca Affini and Fortunato.

Early indication that Conca is engaging in thievery after Swatt Club's rabbit out of the hat at the Italian championships.

Though to be fair I imagine they saw the possibility and aren't paying him much.

Besides, aren't jerseys of the same color to those used in the classification (in this case, the youth classification) not allowed?

There was a flurry of publicity about that rule c18 months ago. I suspect it was allowed to slip when ASO realised that the corrollary in the same rule essentially said that they couldn't have a yellow jersey in any race other than TdF in which Visma were participating, so it has been brushed under the carpet.
